The Nintendo Switch 2 eShop is now officially live just one day before launch

As a gamer, I’m thrilled to share that Nintendo has flicked the power button on the Nintendo Switch 2 digital storefront, a day ahead of the grand unveiling of the latest console. Can’t wait to dive in!

Although gamers won’t get their hands on the new Nintendo Switch 2 until its official release tomorrow, Nintendo has already activated the eShop servers in preparation for the console’s launch. Early adopters of the console can now start using their devices.

Nintendo Switch 2 eShop goes live

Hey fellow gamers! I’m thrilled to share some exciting news straight from the source: As of Wednesday, 4th June at 14:00 CEST / 13:00 BST, our brand-new console’s digital marketplace is now live and ready for action! If you’re among the lucky ones with early access to this awesome Nintendo console or if you’re part of the press, you can now redeem your codes—like the Mario Kart World bundle code—or any other digital goodies you’ve purchased. Get ready to dive into the world of gaming like never before!

Although the eShop is now operational, most games won’t be playable for regular gamers yet, as they require early access to certain titles before June 5, 2025. For now, the eShop will only offer pre-orders and pre-downloads ahead of the console’s official launch tomorrow.

Even though the new Nintendo Switch 2 console is not yet fully functional, it’s important that it works to some extent for its users. As of now, due to a required system update, gamers who have gained early access to the console cannot play any games, including original Nintendo Switch cartridges.

As a gaming enthusiast, I’m really looking forward to the Nintendo Switch 2 launch. Although there aren’t too many first-party games outside of Mario Kart World, the console is packed with some amazing third-party ports. On day one, I’ll be diving into Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate Edition, which is bringing its epic RPG and expansion to Switch 2. It’s going to offer motion controls, mouse controls, VRR support, and the best use of DLSS on the system so far. Plus, there are new versions of Hogwarts Legacy, Hitman, and more coming to the system soon. It’s shaping up to be a fantastic gaming experience!

Tomorrow marks the much-anticipated release of Nintendo Switch 2, which is expected to shatter records as the biggest console launch ever. It’s predicted that its sales on day one will surpass those of the PS5, causing a significant rush in the console’s virtual marketplace once it’s in the hands of millions of eager gamers. And here it is, now available for purchase!
