A movie about OpenAI CEO Sam Altman’s firing and rehiring is in the works

In a future film titled “Artificial,” directed by Luca Guadagnino, the enigmatic CEO of OpenAI, Sam Altman, will be the central figure. The movie narrates the events surrounding his dismissal and reinstatement at OpenAI, which is famously known as the creator of ChatGPT. Andrew Garfield is reportedly in discussions to take on the lead role.

A report by The Hollywood Reporter initially announced a film about Sam Altman’s situation at OpenAI. This movie is expected to portray Altman’s dismissal in 2023, followed by his quick re-appointment just a few days afterwards.

Luca Guadagnino, fresh from directing Challengers and Queer, will helm the film Artificial. It’s possible that Andrew Garfield could take on the role of Sam Altman, while Monica Barbaro is being considered for Mira Murati, and Yura Borisov may secure the part of Ilya Sutskever.

Amazon is rumored to be developing an artificial movie, with plans to begin production possibly this summer. If successful, it would mark the first significant film that tackles Sam Altman, a prominent figure in the advancement of Artificial Intelligence technology.
