Katie Thurston, a previous “Bachelorette” contestant, has publicly discussed her ongoing fight against cancer since it was detected in February 2025. Originally diagnosed with stage three breast cancer, her health condition has subsequently progressed to stage four.
In a recent Instagram post, Thurston discussed some difficult consequences she’s been experiencing, such as severe memory loss. As an example, she recounted an instance where, while going through customs, she found herself unable to recall her previous location when asked, saying, “I couldn’t remember. I couldn’t remember where I was coming from.
Additionally, Thurston mentioned a recent disagreement with her spouse, Jeff Arcuri. She elaborated on her inability to recall the reason for their squabble. Yet, she was confident that such an incident had transpired previously. In spite of the hurdles, the duo manages to find humor in these perplexing situations.
Beyond dealing with memory problems, Thurston shared that she’s experiencing significant hair loss. After two months on medication, she now grapples with crucial choices concerning her liver wellness. She opted for Histotripsy, a non-invasive procedure used to treat liver tumors. The popular reality star expressed hope about future medical advancements, crossing her fingers as a stage 4 “girl” (meaning she remains optimistic).
Last month, Thurston experienced a medically induced menopause, but the medication intended to suppress hormones didn’t function as expected. She mentioned that if the new medication doesn’t work either, she might have to undergo an ovarian removal procedure.
