Besides Pratt, another Parks and Recreation cast member, Nick Offerman, also spoke about Joss’ passing. In an interview with PEOPLE, Offerman discussed how the entire cast has been coping with the actor’s death.

Throughout the day, the cast has been exchanging messages about it, and we’re absolutely devastated,” Offerman stated. He later referred to Joss as a “kind-hearted individual” and expressed their fondness for him as their character Chief Ken Hotate in Parks and Recreation. The actor from The Last of Us expressed his condolences, calling what happened to Joss a “terrible tragedy.

In Texas, Joss tragically lost his life following a gun attack by his neighbor, Sigfredo Alvarez Ceja. Reports from onlookers and the San Antonio Police Department indicate that an argument between the two escalated at a house on Sunday evening in the city’s southern district. The altercation transformed into a violent incident where Ceja retrieved a firearm, fired multiple shots into the actor, and subsequently escaped in a vehicle. Ceja was later apprehended and charged with murder, with bail set at $200,000 (as reported by TMZ).

Tristan Kern de Gonzales, Joss’ husband, shared on Facebook that they, as a couple, faced hateful comments from people with strong prejudice against same-sex relationships, prior to Joss’ passing. He also stated that the person who took Joss’ life used abusive homophobic language towards them.
