As an enthusiast, I can’t help but wonder if iOS 18.5 is going to unveil a new set of emojis for my iPhone! Given Apple’s history of regularly enriching its emoji library in previous updates, it leaves us all on the edge of our seats, eagerly anticipating the latest offerings. Unlike iOS 18.4 which introduced fresh designs, the current version seems to be taking a different route.

Apple did not add new emoji in iOS 18.5.
In the iOS 18.4 update, eight fresh emoji designs were added to the keyboard. However, as per Apple’s announcement for iOS 18.5, this update will offer a Pride Harmony Lock Screen wallpaper, bug fixes, and enhancements, but there is no news about additional emoji.
In the early hours of April 1, 2025, at 4:57 a.m., Apple Hub announced on X platform the new emojis introduced in iOS 18.4, which include various objects, plants, and a smiley face. The post, featuring a sneak peek of these additions, garnered over 473,500 views and more than 284 responses.
In the latest iOS 18.4 update, Apple introduced a range of new features, one of which was an update to the emoji keyboard. This upgrade included eight freshly designed emojis representing various objects, plants, and facial expressions that are now accessible on your keyboard. Additionally, this update brought advancements to the Photos app, Apple News+ recipes, and a new drawing style in Image Playground. The emoji update was specifically mentioned under the category: “8 new emoji including objects, plants and a smiley face are now available in the emoji keyboard.” These updates were integrated alongside system-wide improvements and enhancements for accessibility.
In iOS version 18.5, the focus was primarily on system stability and enhancing existing features. This update introduced support for satellite service providers on iPhone 13 models, resolved black screen issues in the Apple Vision Pro app, and enabled “Buy with iPhone” for transactions within the Apple TV app on external devices. Additional changes included enhancements to notifications when using Screen Time passcodes and an expansion of parental control tools.
For those who are keen on emoji upgrades, remember that iOS 18.4 is the most recent release featuring new characters. As for now, no additional emojis have been included in iOS 18.5.
