As a dedicated enthusiast, I can’t help but sing praises for the unwavering excellence of Codemasters’ F1 series. For more than a decade, it has been delivering pulse-pounding simulation racing experiences that never fail to impress. This year’s edition boasts impressive graphical upgrades under the hood, expanded options within the career mode, and an exciting crossover with the F1 movie. The end result is a top-tier racing game brimming with modes and features that promise endless entertainment for Formula One aficionados like myself.
This year, the heart of the racing experience continues to shine brightly in the series. There’s an electrifying thrill that arises from outmaneuvering a competitor around a bend, skillfully managing the fine line between victory and collision. The feeling of velocity is just as exhilarating, with enhanced visuals making the vehicles appear more stunning than ever as you (hopefully) zip by them. With multiple challenge levels and adjustable settings, you can ensure an engaging race on various tracks throughout the game’s diverse modes.
Among the most exciting features added to F1 25 is the integration of the upcoming F1 movie featuring Brad Pitt, which has been cleverly incorporated into the game. In both Driver Career and My Team modes, you’ll find the characters from APXGP, including Brad Pitt’s character and that of Damson Idris, are now playable. Furthermore, there are scenes from the film that players can reenact. At present, only one scenario is available (with more arriving on June 30 alongside the movie release), where you assume the role of Sonny Hayes, played by Brad Pitt, and aim to match the time set by Joshua Pearce, portrayed by Damson Idris. The challenge mode is presented exceptionally well, seamlessly blending movie footage with racing gameplay to create an immersive experience. I’m particularly looking forward to taking on the remaining challenges when they become available next month.
As a gaming enthusiast who thrives on the thrill of off-track action in Formula One’s movie mode, here’s some exciting news! The immersive story-driven Braking Point mode is back for its third installment. It continues last year’s saga, but fear not if you’re a newcomer – it skillfully sets the stage, ensuring you won’t feel lost. You get to choose between racing as Callie Mayer or Aiden Jackson this time around. I’ve always appreciated the depth this mode adds to sports games, and what makes this year special is that once you complete the story, you can transition seamlessly into Career Mode with your team for ongoing adventures!
Year after year, this game is designed to build upon its solid foundation through iterative updates, but there’s more to it than that. In F1 25, you’ll find five completely redesigned tracks – Bahrain, Miami, Melbourne, Suzuka, and Imola, all boasting stunning visuals. Additionally, you can race on three tracks with reversed layouts, providing an unprecedented level of variety.
Other enhancements include improved facial animations for a more realistic experience and a top-notch decal editor, making the game visually appealing both on the track and during cinematic scenes.
F1 25 Review: Final Verdict
Once more, Codemasters has delivered an outstanding product with F1 25. It’s packed full of modes and offers exhilarating racing that keeps me hooked. I’m eagerly anticipating further developments in the F1 movie integration since I’m already impressed with what’s currently available. Braking Point, again, presents a strong narrative mode. The F1 games never disappoint, and F1 25 enhances upon the series’ robust history to create an exceptional sequel.
SCORE: 8.5/10
According to ComingSoon’s explanation, a rating of 8.5 translates to “Excellent.” Although it has a few small drawbacks, this grade indicates that the artwork effectively achieves its purpose and leaves a lasting impression.
Disclosure: The publisher provided a PlayStation 5 copy for our F1 25 review.
