In the game titled “Elden Ring: Nightreign”, you assume the role of Nightfarers, characters with unique and advanced abilities, including their own ultimate arts and specialized skills. However, these characters offer more than just enhanced gameplay; each has an individual narrative that unfolds as you successfully conclude your Expeditions, allowing for a captivating storyline progression.

As a gamer, I can tell you that unlike the usual storytelling in FromSoftware games where I piece things together from items and memories, this one is different. Instead of figuring out the Executor’s past from item descriptions, their backstory is straightforwardly presented, making it easier for me to understand the narrative without having to dig deep.

Where To Find The Journal

Initially, let me guide you on how to familiarize yourself with the Journal. It’s a substantial book situated to the left side of the Lost Table of Grace. Just like other significant points of interest within the Roundtable Hold, you can easily teleport or quickly reach this location using the fast travel feature.

Within The Journal, you have the opportunity to delve into the tales of each Nightfarer, regardless if you’re controlling them in gameplay. This is also the starting point for Reminiscences, which whisk you away to the past to re-experience pivotal moments from their past lives.

How To Unlock Memory Fragments

To move forward with the diary entries of every character, you should uncover Memory Pieces along the way. Unlike other items, these aren’t stored in your inventory. Rather, they are granted during Expeditions and automatically applied to help you progress through the Journal.

You can only get one Memory Fragment per run.

To advance or unlock them, it appears that overcoming the Nightlords and finishing Expeditions while playing as the Nightfarer is a reliable method. However, for a newcomer, simply making it to the initial boss at the conclusion of the first night should suffice if this is your first Remembrance.

Sometimes, the Memory Fragment will unlock the next page in the journal, not a Remembrance.

When you’ve gathered enough Memory Fragments, you’ll find a new option in the journal of the Nightfarer of your preference: ‘Start Recollection’. After choosing this, you’ll be whisked away into their memories to advance their unique tale and uncover additional entries.

Executor’s Remembrances

The Executor possesses two significant memories or events from his past. Just as with any Nightfarer, delving deeper into his history will be rewarded, offering insights into a story-related cosmetic, distinctive relics, and a chalice that can be utilized at the altar.

Remembrance #1

In your initial mission as an Executor, you’ll find yourself returning to Limveld. However, there’s no need for undue concern about overcoming the Nightlord. Instead, simply focus on accomplishing the given task.

If you quit an Expedition, progress towards a Remembrance won’t be saved.

Speak with the Guardian.
Talk to the Priestess.
Travel to Limveld and look for the orange banner icon on the map.
Defeat the Stray Bloodhound Knight.
Collect the Blessed Flowers.
Complete or die in the Expedition.
Speak to the Priestess again.
Talk to the Iron Menial outside and give him the Blessed Flowers.
Interact with the canvas to paint the Erdtree.
Conclude the Remembrance.

During your adventure, you’ll find that you can pair up with friends or strangers for your journey, although it’s important to note that those with active Remembrances other than yours cannot be teamed up with. Fortunately, the initial stage of the quest is manageable even on your own.

You’ll receive Blessed Blossoms, an item that boosts your Dexterity by 3 and restores HP when activating the cursed sword, along with the Executor’s Chalice. This artifact grants you the ability to use three relics simultaneously: one blue, one gold, and a tier of your selection.

Remembrance #2

In our upcoming tribute, we’ll revisit Limveld, wrapping up the Executor’s tale within the Lands Between. However, be prepared, for you’ll encounter the perilous Shifting Earth Mountaintop occurrence and battle not one, but two formidable foes.

Speak to the Priestess.
Choose to “Assent”.
Start any Expedition in Limveld and head to the orange banner marked on your map.
Defeat the Erdtree Avatar.
Collect the Golden Sprout.
Complete or die in the Expedition.
Speak to the Priestess.
Defeat the Executor’s Cry.
Walk in the opposite direction from the cliff, and a house will appear.
Head inside to find a Crucible Knight mourning over a corpse.
Conclude the Remembrance.

After finishing all these tasks, you’ll earn both the distinctive Remembrance skin of the Executor and the Golden Sprout Relic. The latter, when activated, regenerates HP upon a roaring and victorious defense. Additionally, it gradually restores your own HP and that of nearby allies when health levels are low.

How To Defeat The Executor’s Cry

If you’re finding it difficult to overcome the battle against the Executor’s Cry boss, who is essentially a reflection of you, here are a few important strategies to consider.

Instead of directly confronting your actions, the leader may choose to dodge your offensive moves. This strategy could enable them to present their mystical blade and deliver a destructive strike. Therefore, it’s advisable to maintain a defensive stance.

Dodge his assaults and launch your own martial arts, which will swiftly deplete his vitality and make the battle much easier.

How To Unlock Executor’s Ending

After finishing all the Remembrances, when you conquer the ultimate enemy, you’ll be rewarded with a distinctive cutscene tailored to your character – the Nightfarer. However, ensure that you go through the Expedition while controlling them.
