One delightful aspect of playing Elden Ring: Nightreign is teaming up with friends for battles. Remarkably, the game’s difficulty doesn’t lessen just because there are three of you. In fact, the initial journey itself presents a significant challenge. To facilitate your progress in Limveld, it’s essential to strategize and assemble optimal team configurations.
No matter if you’re teaming up with strangers or your friends, you’ll get a chance to select your Nightfarers prior to embarking on the expedition. Given who will be joining you in combat, it could be advantageous to make some adjustments, as success isn’t solely dependent on having the top-tier Nightfarers from the Elden Ring Nightreign rankings.
Best Elden Ring Nightreign team compositions
With Nightreign, you have a wealth of choices and flexibility when building your team lineup. There are eight distinct characters available for selection, and in multiplayer mode, you can even combine several identical Nightfarers if you prefer. This feature is highly recommended for an engaging experience. Each character offers something special to the team, but you might be amazed at how powerful stacked teams can become.
After overwhelming most of the bosses in Elden Ring as Nightreign, here’s a rundown of our top-performing teams:
Having conquered nearly every boss in Elden Ring while playing as Nightreign, let me share with you our favorite team combinations:
Both versions maintain the original meaning while using more natural and easy-to-read language.
Nuclear
- Characters: Wylder, Ironeye, Duchess
- Effective against: Tricephalos, Equilibrious Beast, Darkdrift Knight, Sentient Pest, Gaping Jaw, Night Aspect
The grouping of Wylder, Ironeye, and Duchess, affectionately known as the nuclear team comp, is undeniably one of the most entertaining setups, particularly appealing to those who enjoy high damage output. Essentially, Ironeye tags a target to amplify the harm they sustain, followed by an explosive synergy with Wylder for a colossal burst of damage. The secret lies in Duchess’ ability to replicate this already extravagant explosion through Restage. Since both ults can stagger the target, you may occasionally land a critical hit for additional damage.
As a gamer, I can vouch that each of these characters possesses impressive strength individually. They offer a nice blend of melee and ranged attacks, making Duchess with a bow an excellent backup choice. When not waiting for my ultimate abilities to recharge, I can confidently stand ground on my own.
Scratch that, reverse it
- Characters: Wylder, Wylder, Duchess / Ironeye, Ironeye, Duchess
- Effective against: Equilibrious Beast, Fissure in the Fog / Tricephalos, Gaping Jaw, Augur
In this setup, much like the last team, we have a combination of identical burst-DPS ultimates – either two Wylders or two Ironeyes. The swordsman’s ultimate deals more burst damage, whereas the archer can mark targets to temporarily boost everyone’s damage output.
When it comes to choosing which duo to use in battle, it generally depends on the specific Nightlord you’re facing. For instance, Wylder is an effective choice against stationary bosses like Libra during the Equilibrious Beast expedition due to his strong attacks. However, when battling mobile opponents such as Maris in the Augur expedition or Fulghor in the Darkdrift Knight, Ironeye’s extended range makes him a superior option because of his ability to attack from a distance.
Behemoth
- Characters: Raider, Executor, Guardian/Wylder
- Effective against: Tricephalos, Gaping Jaw, Night Aspect
As a gamer, if you’re searching for a secure melee-oriented squad, you won’t steer wrong with a Raider, Executor, and either Guardian or Wylder. The Raider serves as our tank, boasting high stun potential which sets the stage for critical hit builds that provide ample space for our team to maneuver.
Similarly, Guardian possesses high durability and defensive abilities, capable of fortifying teammates’ defenses and absorbing attacks with his reinforced block. However, his primary drawback is his minimal damage output. As an alternative, you might consider using Wylder, a versatile character who excels in all areas.
The final character slot is occupied by Executor, an intricate melee combatant who specializes in inflicting debilitating conditions for significant harm. Interestingly, despite this role, he demonstrates a surprising level of durability due to his transformative beast form.
Magic Cocktail
- Characters: Recluse, Wylder, Revenant/Raider
- Effective against: Sentient Pest, Fissure in the Fog
This group doesn’t quite match the raw power and simplicity of magic in the original game, but it brings you pretty close. Recluse is the main character who uses her Magic Cocktail ability to absorb various elemental residues for potentially catastrophic outcomes when combined correctly. However, managing all the affinities on your own can be challenging, which is where your teammates come in handy.
With his flamethrowing relic attached to his grappling hook, Wylder often ignites foes for Recluse to feed on. Moreover, he’s an adaptable close-combat warrior capable of drawing enemy fire, thus shielding Recluse.
In certain scenarios and depending on your proficiency, you might find the final choice adaptable. If you prefer additional defense, Raider could be beneficial, as it absorbs more of the boss’s aggression and may cause staggering effects. This stagger creates chances for Recluse to cast area-of-effect spells that enemies would normally evade. However, a deftly skilled Revenant can also excel in this role, even with her small health pool. Revenant summons an array of spirits, such as the robust Sebastian who can substitute for Raider while Revenant hurls spells like Recluse.
Sniper
- Characters: Ironeye, Ironeye, Ironeye
- Effective against: Tricephalos, Gaping Jaw, Sentient Pest, Augur, Equilibrious Beast
Oh, Ironeye! My outstanding archer simply stands out from the rest. His Marking ability serves not only its original function of tagging enemies for extra damage but also as a nifty evasion tool. Evading, you see, renders him invulnerable, enabling him to dodge everything from a punch to a lethal sheet of ice that would otherwise be fatal. Add his impressive ultimate, range advantage against numerous bosses, and robust build capabilities, and Ironeye is the ideal Nightfarer.
Instead of just one Ironye, three is more effective! From afar, you can whittle down enemies that are bosses, and with practice, you’ll master the art of evading attacks thanks to the Marking skill, ensuring your survival against anything thrown at you.
