Bao Bao Issey Miyake Is Setting Up Shop in New York City

Summary

  • Bao Bao Issey Miyake is opening its first American store in New York City’s SoHo neighborhood.
  • Located at 126 Spring Street, the shop will open to the public on June 12.

Bao Bao, a popular geometric bag collection by Issey Miyake, has opened its first U.S. location. The esteemed brand is establishing its presence right in the heart of New York City’s SoHo district, specifically at the intersection of Prince and Wooster Streets.

The 513-square-foot store, designed by Moment, a Japanese label, takes inspiration from the traditional Japanese fireplace known as “irori.” This design concept encourages family gatherings and shared experiences. Consequently, the shop features a prominent central light fitting that illuminates the room’s center, encouraging customers to circle around an aluminum table to explore the brand’s merchandise.

In honor of its grand opening, Issey Miyake’s store, Bao Bao Issey Miyake, is planning to unveil an exclusive collection called “Lucent Love.” This collection will feature a line of bags in various styles, such as totes, crossbodies, and pouches, all adorned in vibrant red.

On June 12, the public is invited to explore Issey Miyake’s New York store. Get a sneak peek of the interior in the gallery provided above, and check out the store’s location details below.
