Scream 7: Time Jump & More Story Details Revealed by Writer

New information about Scream 7 has been revealed by writer Guy Busick.

The seventh installment of the “Scream” series, titled “Scream 7,” is slated for a theater release next year, produced by Paramount Pictures. Actress Neve Campbell will once again portray Sidney Prescott in this upcoming sequel, with Kevin Williamson directing the movie.

What did Guy Busick say about Scream 7?

According to Busick, speaking with ComicBook, he prefers not to reveal the specific reason why Scream 7 needed to focus on Sidney, as there’s an intriguing explanation behind it. In every Scream film, one should ponder, “Why is this happening now? What current topic is Scream addressing or commenting on?” The Scream series consistently engages in a dialogue with the audience about the cinema landscape, the horror genre, and notably, franchise developments.

…”There’s a particular motive behind Sidney’s presence in this film. We were thrilled when we figured it out and felt it was convincing. We explained this to Neve Campbell, she understood immediately, and responded positively. I initially shared the idea with Kevin Williamson too, who also grasped it, followed by presenting it to the studio. The story for Scream 5 and 6 was developed with my co-writer, James Vanderbilt.

About the location for Scream 7 and the time gap since the sixth film, Busick mentioned, “It’s not New York. I don’t want to give away the details just yet. The story takes place an undefined period [after Part VI]. I might be contradicted by others, but in my thoughts, it’s more than two years. I would say at least two years have passed. It could be exactly two years, but I would suggest it’s more like two years and beyond.

Alongside Courteney Cox playing Gale Weathers, Mason Gooding as Chad Meeks-Martin, Jasmin Savoy Brown as Mindy Meeks-Martin, David Arquette reprising his role as Dewey Riley, the ensemble of Scream 7 also features additional talented actors.

Scream 7 will be released in United States theaters on February 27, 2027, from Paramount Pictures.
