On June 10, 2025, Ubisoft plans to unveil Rainbow Six Siege X. If you’re not fully familiar with the series, you might be curious about what this launch signifies. Is it a new game or an update? We’ve got the answers for you right here.
Is Rainbow Six Siege X a new game?
The update for Rainbow Six Siege, called Rainbow Six Siege X, is not a completely new game but an enhancement to the original one you already know. It does bring significant changes and offers a chance for those who don’t own it yet to try it out without purchasing it. Starting from June 10, Season 2 of Year 10, Rainbow Six Siege will offer a free access version.
From the get-go, I’ll be able to utilize ten unique Operators, with the potential to grow my team to a total of 26 through gameplay advancement. The basic version offers multiple modes like Unranked, Quick Play, and the fresh Dual Front. If I fancy it, I can upgrade to the premium membership, which will unlock Ranked Mode and the Siege Cup once I reach level 50. Additionally, it provides immediate access to a larger pool of Operators.
Rainbow Six Siege X introduces some exciting updates and enhancements beyond its free trial for tactical enthusiasts. The graphics are getting a significant upgrade, featuring enhanced lighting and shadows across existing maps, as well as an overhaul of the destructible materials. At the debut of Siege X, popular maps such as Clubhouse, Chalet, Border, Bank, and Kafe will all undergo this transformation.
The navigation system in the game, which sometimes leads to exciting gameplay but isn’t always smooth, is going to be revamped. This update will allow for smoother movement during rappelling, including sprinting horizontally while rappelling and navigating around building corners. Additionally, there will be significant changes to the audio, with a complete overhaul planned, and a new communication wheel will make it easier to communicate non-verbally with your team members.
In addition, a fresh onboarding process will be introduced for novice gamers, along with various modifications aimed at enhancing the general gaming experience. Consequently, although Rainbow Six Siege X isn’t a completely new game, it represents a significant update and restructuring of its previous version.
