The new James Bond movie received another disappointing update involving a potential director.
What is the latest James Bond update concerning a director?
According to World of Reel, Alfonso Cuarón will not be directing the upcoming James Bond film, contrary to earlier speculations that his next project might involve 007.
Cuarón expressed that there’s a potential project being considered, and if it comes to fruition, he plans on telling this tale from his unique perspective.
Previously, Cuarón declined an offer to direct a Bond film when he decided he preferred “to be a spectator instead.
Amazon MGM Studios will produce Bond 26, marking their debut as creators of the iconic James Bond films. In a deal worth nearly $1 billion, creative control of the franchise was handed over from longtime producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson in February. Despite this change, Broccoli and Wilson will retain ownership of the franchise, but Amazon MGM Studios will now be responsible for its creative direction.
To kick things off, Amazon brought in Amy Pascal and David Heyman to take charge of the upcoming James Bond film. Notably, Pascal is renowned for her work on Tom Holland’s Spider-Man series. During her tenure at Sony, she managed the production of numerous Bond films, including Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace, Skyfall, and Spectre.
It’s interesting to note that Brian Heyman was responsible for the production of all Harry Potter films, including Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, which was directed by Alfonso Cuarón. Additionally, Heyman also produced Alfonso Cuarón’s Academy Award-winning film Gravity.
Amazon hasn’t set a specific pace for hiring a director for Bond 26. However, what’s crucial is that they swiftly decide on the new actor to portray 007.
