Kannada cinema icon Shiva Rajkumar publicly stood up for Kamal Haasan following the latter’s contentious comment, expressing bewilderment as to why the seasoned actor is being criticized for his words. Shiva also inquired about the reason behind the calls for an apology from Haasan.
According to the Om actor, Kamal Haasan has frequently praised Kannada and shown deep affection for Bengaluru, often expressing his pride in our city. He and many others have admired Kamal Haasan for a long time. For me personally, I’ve been a devoted fan of Kamal Haasan for several years now.
In light of the ongoing debate, Shiva Rajkumar posed a question to his critics: Have you personally contributed to the Kannada film industry, as Kamal Haasan has by offering chances to budding talents?
To clarify further, the Kannada actor responded to those who criticized him for preferring Kamal Haasan over his own father, Rajkumar. He explained, “Family is my father, but Kamal sir is unique. He’s not just a famous figure, he’s been an incredible influence on me. Just as you might have a favorite actor, mine has always been Kamal sir. He knows precisely what the audience wants, and I firmly believe he consistently meets those expectations.
For those not aware, Kamal Haasan has been involved in a debate following his statement that Kannada originated from Tamil. During the launch of Thug Life’s audio, the esteemed actor, conversing with Shiva Rajkumar, expressed, “Tamil is my life and my heart. Kannada, as a language, emerged from Tamil. Therefore, you are part of that.
Following Haasan’s remarks, numerous online users lashed out at him with strong criticisms. He endured a significant wave of criticism.
Moving on to his professional endeavors, Kamal Haasan will soon take on the leading role in the movie titled Thug Life. This film, directed by Mani Ratnam, is an action-packed story about Rangaraya Sakthivel Naicker, a character reminiscent of a Yakuza boss.
