Red Guardian Gets New Suits in Thunderbolts* Concept Art

As a hardcore gamer, I’ve just stumbled upon some fresh concept art for Marvel Studio’s Thunderbolts, and let me tell you, it’s got my adrenaline pumping! The new design for David Harbour’s Red Guardian is absolutely badass – darker, sleeker, and oozing with an edge that’s sure to turn heads. Can’t wait to see this guy in action!

What new looks for Red Guardian are show in the Thunderbolts* concept art?

On Instagram, artist Aleksi Bricolt shared a sneak peek at the early design for Red Guardian from the recently premiered movie. Bricolt mentioned that he aimed to give this version of the costume a “more somber feel,” as it incorporates more black than the usual red associated with Red Guardian. The symbol on his suit is entirely black, while subtle red highlights are present throughout the outfit.

As a fan, I can share that Bricolt aimed for a vibe less reminiscent of Santa Claus and more like a Spec Ops operative in his design. Yet, the Red Guardian portrayed in the film ended up sporting a suit that closely resembled his appearance in Black Widow from 2021. Here’s some concept art to give you an idea: [link provided]

Earlier this month, the Marvel Studios movie titled “Thunderbolts,” helmed by director Jake Schreier, hit the big screens. The star-studded cast includes Florence Pugh portraying Yelena Belova, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier, Wyatt Russell playing John Walker/U.S. Agent, Olga Kurylenko in the role of Antonia Dreykov/Taskmaster, Lewis Pullman as Bob Reynolds/Sentry, Geraldine Viswanathan as Mel, Wendell Pierce as Gary, David Harbour as Alexei Shostakov/Red Guardian, Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, and Hannah John-Kamen in an additional role.

The synopsis for Thunderbolts states that Marvel Studios brings together an unusual gang of anti-heroes: Yelena Belova, Bucky Barnes (also known as the Winter Soldier), Red Guardian, Ghost, Taskmaster, and John Walker. These characters, disenchanted and discarded, find themselves in a lethal trap set by Valentina Allegra de Fontaine. They are compelled to undertake a perilous journey that will push them to face the deepest shadows of their pasts. Will this fractious band self-destruct or manage to find redemption and coalesce into something greater before it’s too late?
