Superstar Rajinikanth is at present engaged in the filming of his follow-up movie titled Jailer 2, helmed by director Nelson Dilipkumar. Intriguing tidbits about the production have been surfacing, and it seems that Nagarjuna Akkineni might be cast as the primary villain, marking a reunion with Rajinikanth since their work together in Coolie.
According to a report from Deccan Herald, it’s being suggested that Nagarjuna Akkineni could take on the antagonist role in Rajinikanth’s upcoming film. Insiders involved in the project suggest that several actors were considered for the villain part, but following Nagarjuna’s powerful portrayal as Simon in Coolie, the producers decided to approach him for this role.
At this point, the information comes only from reports, and there hasn’t been an official announcement about it from the producers.
Discussing the upcoming Tamil film titled “Jailer 2”, it’s a sequel to the 2023 hit “Jailer”. In this new installment, Rajinikanth reprises his role as “Tiger” Muthuvel Pandian, and the production crew has been busy with filming sessions.
Based on various sources, it appears that the creators are considering inviting Nandamuri Balakrishna for a significant guest role in an upcoming production. It’s rumored that Mohanlal and Shiva Rajkumar may reappear, continuing their roles from previous projects. Furthermore, there are whispers that Fahadh Faasil, SJ Suryah, among others, will also be part of the cast.
On the professional side of Nagarjuna Akkineni, he will soon be seen in the movie “Kuberaa,” sharing screen time with Dhanush. Directed by Sekhar Kammula, this film falls under the genre of social thriller and is scheduled to hit theaters on June 20, 2025. Joining Nagarjuna in this exciting project are Rashmika Mandanna, Jim Sarbh, and several other prominent actors who have taken key roles.
As a devoted fan, I’m eagerly looking forward to witnessing Rajinikanth grace the big screens once more with Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Coolie, set to premiere on August 14, 2025. This action-packed extravaganza reportedly showcases the superstar taking on a role with a darker edge.
In this movie, Nagarjuna Akkineni and Upendra Rao take on significant parts, while Bollywood star Aamir Khan is anticipated to make a brief appearance. Alongside them, actors like Sathyaraj, Shruti Haasan, Soubin Shahir, and others are also in crucial roles.
As the movie approaches its release date, it’s set to encounter a battle at the box office against this year’s film starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR titled “War 2”.
