Netflix has revealed that six fresh actors are set to become part of the cast for the revival of the beloved 1970s Western drama Little House on the Prairie, which is inspired by Laura Ingalls Wilder’s popular book series. Similar to the original, this new adaptation will draw from the same beloved series.
The story’s focus will shift to Charles, his spouse Caroline, and their children Laura and Mary, who are moving from Wisconsin to Independence, Kansas. The narrative will include Osage characters, since the initial season is inspired by the novel “Little House on the Prairie.
Who is joining the Little House on the Prairie cast?
As a gaming enthusiast, I’m thrilled to be part of the star-studded cast for the Little House on the Prairie reboot! Joining me are Jocko Sims, Warren Christie, Wren Zhawenim Gotts, Meegwun Fairbrother, Alyssa Wapanatâhk, and Xander Cole. We’re set to work alongside Alice Halsey as Laura Ingalls, Luke Bracey as Charles Ingalls, Crosby Fitzgerald as Caroline Ingalls, and Skywalker Hughes as Mary Ingalls. Can’t wait to embark on this exciting journey!
Listed below are the official character descriptions for the new cast members:
- Sims will play Dr. George Tann (Series Regular), who is a generous and kind-hearted man with a charming bedside manner that makes him a connector within the community.
- Christie will play John Edwards (Series Regular), a Civil War veteran from Tennessee. Edwards is a gregarious and mysterious man who catches the eye of every single woman in the county (maybe some of the married ones, too).
- Gotts will play Good Eagle (Series Regular), the daughter of Mitchell and White Sun. Good Eagle is wildly imaginative and is known as a storyteller in her family.
- Fairbrother will play Mitchell (Series Regular), a tender-hearted man who lives in Kansas with his family, where he became a successful farmer and built the most impressive homestead in the county.
- Wapanatǎhk will play White Sun (Series Regular), who is opinionated, beautiful, and has a sharp sense of humor. At times, she sees the world through a more cynical lens than her husband, Mitchell.
- Cole will play Little Puma (Recurring Guest Star), White Sun’s younger brother. Little Puma is good-hearted but bull-headed and is trying to find his place in the world. He loves his big sister, but also loves getting under her skin.
As a devoted admirer of “Little House on the Prairie,” I’m thrilled to share that the reboot will be under the skilled guidance of showrunner Rebecca Sonnenshine, whose passion for the original book series fueled her journey as a writer and filmmaker. Alongside Sonnenshine, Joy Gorman Wettels from Joy Coalition, Dana Fox, Susanna Fogel, and Trip Friendly from Friendly Family Productions will also serve as executive producers. Interestingly, the rights to Wilder’s novel series were initially acquired for film and TV in 1972 by Ed Friendly, Trip Friendly’s father who was then an NBC executive at that time.
