Giamaro Unleashes the Katla: A 2,157-HP Quad-Turbo V12 Hypercar

Summary

  • Giamaro Automobili debuts Katla, a quad-turbo V12 hypercar
  • Produces up to 2,128 hp and 1,480 lb-ft of torque
  • Carbon monocoque, active aero, CNC suspension and fighter jet-inspired cockpit complete the all-new, track-focused design

Giamaro Automobili has introduced its inaugural model, known as the Katla – an innovative hypercar boasting a carbon-fiber body and a quad-turbocharged V12 engine capable of generating up to 2,128 horsepower and 1,480 lb-ft of torque. The V12 engine, which employs the “hot-V” configuration, is positioned longitudinally in the center of the vehicle, resulting in a nearly optimal 42:58 weight distribution due to its rear-mounted transaxle. In its standard configuration, the engine generates 1,647 horsepower at 8,500 RPM and can be paired with either a 7-speed automatic manual transmission or an upcoming 11-speed dual-clutch gearbox.

The Katla boasts a carbon monocoque chassis weighing approximately 375 pounds, offering over 29,500 lb-ft of torsional rigidity for exceptional responsiveness. Its electronically adaptive dampers and an active rear wing modify based on speed and cornering forces to optimize performance. Powerful carbon ceramic disc brakes, featuring 10-piston calipers at the front and 4-piston calipers at the rear, ensure reliable stopping power.

In terms of appearance, the Katla conveys a subtle sense of power. Its maroon to silver color gradient, which seems to hover, emphasizes its broad, low structure, standing at approximately 188.6 inches in length, 79.8 inches in width, and only 46.8 inches in height. Inside, it blends aviation-inspired elements with tactile materials such as CNC-machined aluminum and carbon fiber weaves. Few Katlas are anticipated to be produced due to its limited production run.
