Actress Angela Bassett, known for playing Ramonda in various Marvel Cinematic Universe films, recently discussed the possibility of reprising her role in Black Panther 3 during a recent interview. Interestingly, Ramonda, who assumed rule over Wakanda after the demise of her son T’Challa, met her end when Tenoch Huerta Mejía’s Namor attacked her realm in the 2022 film Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. However, she pondered on potential ways Ramonda might make a comeback in the upcoming sequel.

Angela Bassett hopes for Ramonda to return in Ancestral Plane in Black Panther 3

Bassett has shown enthusiasm for reprising her role as Ramonda in Black Panther 3, even though she was killed off in the previous film. During a chat on Good Morning America, hosts discussed her upcoming project, Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning. Notably, they mentioned that her Black Panther co-star, Michael B. Jordan, attended the premiere to lend his support for her.

One Good Morning America host remarked, “We’re discussing ‘Mission: Impossible.’ It was exhilarating…Michael B. Jordan was present, cheering you on,” followed by, “Naturally, many are excitedly chattering about Wakanda. Maybe another movie, even a third one.

Bassett expressed her enthusiasm by saying it would be great, suggesting that the character might show up in Black Panther 3, perhaps in a sequence with the Ancestral Plane. She added, ‘I could be a part of it, you know? It’s possible. I definitely would.’

In the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), the Ancestral Plane serves as a celestial domain where deceased individuals from Wakanda reside. Previously, Chadwick Boseman’s character, T’Challa, communicated with his late father in this realm in Black Panther. Similarly, Letitia Wright’s Shuri and Michael B. Jordan’s Killmonger shared a similar experience in Wakanda Forever. Therefore, it is possible that Angela Bassett may reprise her role through such an interaction in the Ancestral Plane.

Significantly, Bassett was nominated for an Academy Award in the Best Supporting Actress category for her portrayal of Ramonda in Wakanda Forever.

In the previously mentioned conversation, when another host expressed that many people, including themselves, desired Bassett to feature in Black Panther 3, the actress concurred, stating “Yes, we all do. Everybody hopes it comes true.

As per reports, the third Black Panther movie could come out in 2028.
