2025 saw Finn Wolfhard sport a striking new hairstyle at the Crunchyroll Anime Awards in Tokyo on May 25 – a buzz cut that caught everyone’s attention as he walked the red carpet alongside his Stranger Things co-star and friend, Gaten Matarazzo. Dressed in a glistening black-and-white suit jacket, matching pants, and black boots, Wolfhard and Matarazzo presented the award for Best Continuing Series together during the event.

Right before the much-awaited fifth and concluding season of Stranger Things, set to air towards the end of 2025, there’s a public appearance by Wolfhard – the actor who has played Mike Wheeler since the show first premiered in July 2016. In an interview with PEOPLE conducted in April, he revealed his feelings about finishing the series, saying that filming the final scenes was a powerful and emotional experience.

Wolfhard expressed his feelings about his character’s ending as follows: “I was overjoyed with how it turned out, but I was also puzzled and a bit melancholic, yet incredibly joyful at the same time.” He went on to say that the experience seemed surreal, as though he was dreaming. He couldn’t quite believe it was real. He continued by stating, “I can’t put my finger on it, but it all felt just right.” Furthermore, Wolfhard mentioned that they all gathered for the last day of shooting, which made it particularly poignant to be among everyone during the show’s closing scenes.

Apart from “Stranger Things,” Wolfhard has just finished directing his initial feature film titled “Hell of a Summer” and is getting ready to launch his first independent music album called “Happy Birthday” in the month of June.
