The Wheel of Time has been canceled by Amazon Prime Video after three seasons.
Created by Rafe Judkins, “The Wheel of Time” is a television series airing on Prime Video that’s adapted from the book series of the same title by Robert Jordan and Brandon Sanderson. The initial season debuted in November 2021, with Season 2 airing in September 2023, and Season 3 making its appearance in March 2025.
Why did Prime Video cancel The Wheel of Time?
According to the report, Prime Video will conclude the series after the finale of Season 3 of The Wheel of Time, largely due to financial considerations despite its creative appeal for the platform’s executives.
Produced jointly by Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios, the series The Wheel of Time features Rosamund Pike portraying Moiraine Damodred, Daniel Henney as al’Lan Mandragoran, Josha Stradowski as Rand al’Thor, Zoë Robins as Nynaeve al’Meara, Madeleine Madden as Egwene al’Vere, Marcus Rutherford as Perrin Aybara, Dónal Finn as Mat Cauthon, Ceara Coveney as Elayne Trakand, Sophie Okonedo as Siuan Sanche, Kate Fleetwood as Liandrin Guirale, Natasha O’Keeffe as Lanfear, and Ayoola Smart as Aviendha, among others.
2021 saw The Wheel of Time kick off impressively as Prime Video’s most-watched series debut of the year and one of its Top 5 series launches ever, according to Deadline’s article. However, after three seasons, while it has continued to be a consistent performer, its viewership has dipped slightly. In the first three weeks of Season 3, The Wheel of Time fell off Nielsen’s Top 10 Originals chart, whereas it remained on the list for the entire runs of the previous two seasons.
