Rukmini Vasanth is a native of Bangalore. Her esteemed father, Colonel Vasanth Venugopal, was the inaugural recipient from Karnataka to receive the Ashoka Chakra. Tragically, he gave his life in 2007 while preventing intruders at the India-Pakistan border in Uri.
In 2019, Rukmini made her acting debut with a minor part in the Hindi movie Upstarts. However, it was her role as Priya in Sapta Saagaradaache Ello—Side A and Side B, which she starred alongside Rakshit Shetty in 2023, that truly put her on the map. Her acting skills were widely acclaimed following this performance.
During that timeframe, she was spotted in Baanadariyalli, acting opposite Ganesh. In the year 2024, she took on significant roles in Bagheera, starring alongside Sriimurali and Bhairathi Ranagal, with Shiva Rajkumar. Notably, Rukmini also embarked on her Telugu film career with Appudo Ippudo Eppudo, sharing the screen with Nikhil Siddhartha.

Rukmini Vasanth first appeared in Tamil cinema with the movie titled “Ace,” where she shared screen time with Vijay Sethupathi. This movie hit the screens on May 23rd. The plot revolves around a man named Kannan, who attempts to begin anew by migrating to Malaysia. Unfortunately, a heist turns sour, and Kannan becomes ensnared in a trap of crime and deceit. As the story progresses, we see Kannan navigating through each hurdle, employing his intelligence to outmaneuver those around him and stay alive.
Did Rukmini replace Deepika in Spirit?
It appears that Deepika Padukone will not be featured in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s forthcoming action movie titled Spirit, with Prabhas as the lead actor. Despite generating excitement about her possible role, various sources claim that the arrangement did not proceed because of disagreements regarding creative aspects and contractual terms.
Based on reports from Great Andhra, it appears that Deepika had several requirements. One was a workday limited to eight hours, which reduced her actual time on set for filming. Furthermore, she allegedly asked for a substantial payment and a portion of the movie’s earnings. Lastly, her unwillingness to speak Telugu lines posed a challenge for the regional production.
Since Deepika is no longer involved, the producers are looking at Rukmini Vasanth as a potential female lead instead. Reports suggest that negotiations with her are currently underway, but there’s been no formal confirmation about this casting decision yet.
