Georgia O’Connor passes away at 25, claims report

British professional boxer Georgia O’Connor has died at age 25.

According to The Guardian, her promoter, Boxxer, announced her death and referred to her as a “real fighter, both in and out of the ring.

In January 2025, O’Connor was diagnosed with cancer following several months of intense pain that doctors had previously disregarded on multiple occasions.

In a recent Instagram post, O’Connor shared that she’s been enduring pain since October and accused doctors of overlooking her symptoms despite her pre-existing health issues – ulcerative colitis and primary sclerosing cholangitis – which heighten her risk for cancer. “Not a single doctor conducted the scans or blood tests I desperately requested while I was writhing in pain on the floor,” she penned. “Unfortunately, the cancer has now metastasized.

In 2021, O’Connor transitioned into professional boxing and remained victorious in all three of her matches. She secured a gold medal at the 2017 Commonwealth Youth Games, a silver medal at the 2017 Youth World Championships, and a bronze medal at the 2018 Youth World Championships. Prior to her passing in 2025, she revealed that she had experienced a miscarriage earlier that year.

On May 9, the boxer tied the knot with her long-term companion, Adriano Cardinali, a mere fortnight prior to her passing. She’d already changed her social media profiles to reflect her newly acquired family name.

My thoughts are with the parents and partner of Georgia, who I know gave everything they had without ceasing, and are going through a lot now.” England Boxing also honored her memory, describing her as a “talented boxer and cherished member of the amateur boxing community.

Accolades flooded in from the international boxing community, with messages coming from Claressa Shields, Jack Catterall, Jake Paul, and Ellie Scotney. Scotney, a dear friend, penned: “Even when time was running out, you never allowed anything to extinguish your radiant light.
