Young & Restless’ Christian LeBlanc on Michael’s Role in Newman v Abbott War

As Nikki’s birthday approaches and the enigma surrounding Aristotle Dumas’ real identity deepens, fans of The Young and the Restless can anticipate exciting developments in the CBS series’ forthcoming episodes. However, one ongoing storyline that remains unresolved in the lengthy soap opera is the Newman-Abbott conflict. With Michael finding himself caught between the two feuding factions, actor Christian LeBlanc has shed light on the motivations of his character within the show.

This is his take on Michael’s part in the persistent conflict between the Abbotts and the Newmans.

Christian LeBlanc explains Michael’s role in Newman v Abbott war in The Young and the Restless

In a chat with Soap Opera Digest, Christian LeBlanc shared that the character Michael on The Young and the Restless holds Eric Braeden’s character Victor Newman in high regard. This respect stems from Michael’s complicated relationship with his own father, as he often finds solace in Victor despite their ups and downs. LeBlanc explained, “Michael keeps returning to Victor after their disagreements and job changes because [his biological father] River Baldwin wasn’t a good person – marked by abandonment issues. However, Michael has always appreciated Victor’s strong family values, as he offered Michael acceptance into his family on various occasions.

In The Young and the Restless, Christian LeBlanc’s character Michael aims to act as a buffer or restraint towards Victor, preventing their long-standing rivalry with the Abbotts from intensifying further. According to LeBlanc, “Michael tries to divert the conversation and introduce other topics to steer Victor away from the Abbotts, but Victor always returns to it because it’s an ancient feud. Michael is trying to keep Victor focused on his own matters while keeping Jack and the Abbotts separate, and everyone else as well. And he is feeling pressure from all directions.

As a gamer, I’d put it like this: “Few can persuade him to change his gaming spot, let alone trick him into doing so. He’s as stubborn as a level boss in an RPG.

As Michael maintains his covert work for both the Newmans and the Abbotts, Christian LeBlanc anticipates that the tension between Jack and Victor’s long-standing rivalry will escalate in the upcoming episodes, leading to even more dramatic developments. “As their age-old conflict heats up, things are about to get more intense,” he hinted. “We have thrilling destinations ahead. There are plenty of surprises in store…The best is yet to come!
