On May 1st, a family travel-themed movie made its debut in cinemas alongside big hitters like “Retro” and “HIT 3”. To everyone’s surprise, this film outperformed expectations and presented stiff competition to both films at the box office. Due to its remarkable success, the producers have opted to hold off on its digital release for at least a week.
As per industry expert Sreedhar Pillai’s reports, Tourist Family was originally set to debut on streaming platforms on May 28, 2025. But since JioHotstar allegedly secured the film’s digital rights, the producers asked the platform if they could delay the release due to its continued success at cinemas. At present, there’s no official word yet about the new OTT premiere date.

Much like Mohanlal’s recent film, Thudarum, is now expected to debut on an OTT platform later than initially planned. As per 123 Telugu’s report, the reason for this delay appears to be the movie’s impressive run at the box office. Initially, it was speculated that Thudarum would premiere on JioHotstar, but a specific date has not been disclosed yet. Traditionally, films become available on streaming platforms about four weeks after their theatrical release; however, Thudarum seems to be following an unusual trajectory, similar to Tourist Family.
Regarding the movie featuring Sasikumar, it has surpassed the 50-crore mark at the Tamil Nadu box office. Initially, it earned approximately 2 crores on its premiere day, but it quickly picked up speed in subsequent days. By the close of its second week, the film had amassed an impressive 45 crores. Remarkably, it outperformed the total earnings of its rival, Retro, throughout its lifetime.
Over its third weekend, Tourist Family made approximately 56 crore rupees, followed by an additional 10 crore on Monday and 90 lakhs on Tuesday. By Wednesday, early estimates indicate that the film earned around 85 lakhs, bringing its total gross in Tamil Nadu to roughly 53.75 crores.
