Actress Joey King, who was nominated for a Golden Globe, is in talks to join the cast of the upcoming sequel to “Practical Magic,” titled “Practical Magic 2.” If she signs on, King will portray one of the lead character’s daughters. In this role, she would uncover her family’s hidden secrets and her own latent powers, potentially leading the family into turmoil.
Recently, King has appeared in two Netflix films from last year: the sci-fi coming-of-age movie “Uglies” and the romantic comedy “A Family Affair”. She garnered significant recognition for her outstanding portrayal in the Hulu miniseries “The Act”, which secured her Emmy and Golden Globe nominations for Best Actress.
Who will lead the Practical Magic 2 cast?
The upcoming sequel to Practical Magic, titled Practical Magic 2, is set to bring back Academy Award winners Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock. This follow-up film will be helmed by director Griffin Dunne, best known for his work on An American Werewolf in London. The screenplay has been penned by original writer Akiva Goldsman and Georgie Pritchett. Notably, the project is being produced by Kidman, Bullock, and Denise Di Novi. It’s reported that filming will commence in London during the late summer.
1995 novel “Practical Magic” by Alice Hoffman served as the inspiration for the initial film, which was helmed by director Griffe Dunne. The movie featured Dianne Wiest, Stockard Channing, and Aidan Quinn in its cast. In this film adaptation, Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock stepped into the roles of Gillian and Sally Owens, two sisters with a rich witching heritage. They had to join forces to summon their magic powers to vanquish the evil spirit of Gillian’s abusive lover, Jimmy, before he could inflict any further harm upon them.
