According to reports, Leonardo DiCaprio has apparently decided against collaborating with director Damien Chazelle on their intended Evel Knievel film.

Why did DiCaprio pass on the Evel Knievel movie?

As per a recent report from THR, it’s been revealed that Chazelle’s next film, a prison drama starring Daniel Craig and Cillian Murphy, is set to debut. Notably, Chazelle switched gears to this project after dedicating months to the preparations for the Evel Knievel movie.

According to THR’s report, DiCaprio, initially intended for the movie, moved away from it following several months of discussions. Now, he is set to collaborate with Martin Scorsese on a new project featuring Dwayne Johnson instead.

Based on the report, the change (or “pivot”) is attributed to Scorsese’s advanced age. At 82 years old, this renowned director has expressed his desire to keep making films as long as he can.

It’s undecided if the Evel Knievel movie will indeed come to an end, given that it had progressed significantly in the planning stages. The project even had a title, “Evel Knievel on Tour,” and was preparing for filming. Additionally, there were rumors suggesting Adrien Brody might have been considered for the lead role.

Regarding their upcoming film collaboration, there isn’t much information available at this point. Martin Scorsese is set to direct a movie based on a script penned by Nick Bilton.
