Street Fighter Cast: Jason Momoa, Former WWE Champ Eyed for Live-Action Movie

The live-action Street Fighter movie is rounding out its cast.

Kitao Sakurai is currently developing a Street Fighter movie in live-action, inspired by the widely recognized Capcom video games, for Legendary Entertainment. Previous reports suggested that Andrew Koji, known for his role as Snake Eyes, and Noah Centineo, star of The Recruit, are being considered to portray Ryu and Ken respectively in the upcoming film.

What is being eyed for the Street Fighter movie cast?

Based on reports from Deadline and The InSneider by Jeff Sneider, there are rumors that Jason Momoa and Roman Reigns could be part of the upcoming film. It’s said that Reigns might take on the role of Akuma, while it remains undecided who Momoa is being considered for.

Actor Jason Momoa is recognized for his portrayal of Aquaman in the DC Extended Universe and as Khal Drogo during the first two seasons of Game of Thrones on HBO. He has also taken on the roles of Garrett “The Garbage Man” Garrison in A Minecraft Movie and Lobo in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, set for release in 2026. In addition to these, Momoa plays Duncan Idaho in the Dune series and appears as Dante Reyes in Fast X (2023), along with other roles.

Currently, Roman Reigns is not just a WWE champion but was previously a football player as well. In recent years, he has made appearances in films such as Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw (2019) and The Wrong Missy (2020). Additionally, his voice can be heard in the 2021 animated movie Rumble.

At the moment, specifics about the upcoming live-action Street Fighter movie are being kept secret. Previously, Danny and Michael Philippou were linked to directing the film before Sakurai’s involvement. You might recognize Sakurai as the director of Bad Trip (2021), starring Eric André and Lil Rel Howery, and episodes from Peacock’s Twisted Metal series featuring Anthony Mackie. The second season of this show is set to premiere in July.

Legendary hasn’t revealed a scheduled launch date for their collaborative live-action Street Fighter film, which they are jointly developing with Capcom.
