Currently grabbing attention is rapper and singer Rodarius Marcell Green, also known by his stage name Rod Wave, after his recent arrest in Georgia. The arrest took place in a Fulton County jail, following an event that transpired on April 21st.
Despite officials remaining tight-lipped on the reasons behind the arrest of the performer famously known as The Great Gatsby, here’s what we currently understand about his situation.
Why was Rod Wave arrested?
On May 20, 2025, I found myself in the uncomfortable position of being arrested by officials at a Fulton County jail, all due to an incident that occurred on April 21st. The specifics of this event remain undisclosed by Georgia authorities, but they’ve slapped me with no less than 13 felony charges.
These charges encompass a wide range, from aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during a felony, to pointing a gun at someone and criminal damage to property, along with reckless conduct and tampering with evidence. I’m just a fan, but this is one wild ride I never asked for.
Previously, it’s been unclear what actions led to Rod Wave’s arrest. However, there are rumors suggesting that the incident might involve him acting inappropriately towards a woman, allegations reported by The Express Tribune. Despite his initial reluctance, authorities released Wave on the same day after he secured a bond, as per reports.
For the third time during his burgeoning but brief career, Florida native Rod Wave has run into legal issues. He was once let off the hook for a battery charge in 2022. In 2024, police apprehended him for a firearm-related matter, but the case was quickly dropped. Despite attracting law enforcement attention due to his regular questionable behavior, Wave keeps pushing forward in the music world. Lately, he’s teamed up with Michael B. Jordan on a song called “Sinners,” which shares its title with Jordan’s movie of the same name.
As of now, no formal comment has been released by Rod Wave’s legal team concerning his recent arrest.
