Space Marine 2 Gets New Techmarine Class Horde Mode and More!

Saber Interactive has handed over the tools for modding Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2, but they’re not resting yet. They continue to develop additional content for this widely played cooperative game. In addition to fresh Operations and a completely new Horde Mode, they are also working on new weapons, character classes, and other exciting features.

Given the fervent following of Warhammer, it’s no surprise that dataminers would be on the hunt, and it appears that Saber might be incorporating some truly thrilling elements into Space Marine 2 in the coming timeframe.

Space Marine 2 dataminers find a brand-new class

Investigators on the Space Marine subreddit have unearthed an array of thrilling upcoming additions to the game. These discoveries were made within the most recent update files for the Public Test Server (PTS), indicating a wealth of fresh content is being developed.

Initially, researchers discovered hints of a Techmarine class equipped with a “Shoulder Gun Bolter” bonus. This class is anticipated to serve as a support role, featuring deployable turrets and distinctive abilities that set it apart. Additionally, the Techmarine is rumored to debut a unique melee weapon – the Power Axe.

New Horde Mode details

It appears that Saber Interactive has been hinting at a unique take on their Horde Mode, and after some digging, dataminers have uncovered clues as to what this means. In the game’s code, several details about the Horde Mode have been found, suggesting that the new gameplay style will be quite extensive.

In the gameplay, participants won’t just engage in battling endless foes, they’ll additionally encounter a variety of tasks such as defeating several mini-bosses, gathering power sources (like batteries), and much more.

In the heat of battle against the Horde, I’ve got to keep my wits about me and make smart use of resources like ammo boxes, revive tokens, and more to stay alive. But Here are some of the NPC allies I can summon within the game:

1. The Tactical Medic – Provides healing and boosts my team’s health.
2. The Brave Warrior – A formidable ally, ready to take on enemy hordes with me.
3. The Stealthy Scout – Gathers intel and takes out enemies from afar.
4. The Powerful Mage – Casts powerful spells to turn the tide of battle.
5. And many more! It’s always exciting to see who I can bring into the fray!

New Operations

Furthermore, enthusiasts stumbled upon documents pertaining to three unannounced Operations within the Public Test Server (PTS) build. These upcoming Operations, referred to as PvE Missions 10, 11, and 12 (codenamed Ship, Relay, and Dread), are currently being developed for future updates in the game.

In the game “Ship”, I’ll embark on a mission to navigate my way to the engineering dock of a spaceship. It may seem straightforward, but the journey promises excitement!

In “Relay”, my objective is threefold: first, reach the Astropath Relay; second, eliminate any corrupted Astropaths I encounter along the way; and third, overcome the boss that awaits me there. Quite a challenge, but I’m up for it!

“Dread” presents a single objective, but from what I’ve seen, it seems incomplete. Regardless, my task is to protect a tower in this game, which should test both my strategy and reflexes!

A new Majoris enters the battle

Ultimately, Saber continues to focus on expanding the game’s roster of adversaries. Meanwhile, modders are diligently working towards incorporating entire Necron and Tau factions. In contrast, Saber is dedicating efforts to introduce a new Majoris foe, featuring multiple versions including a boss type, in an upcoming release. This anticipated enemy will likely represent the Chaos Majoris faction.

In addition to ongoing work on Space Marine 2, Saber Interactive is simultaneously exploring the groundwork for the upcoming sequel, tentatively titled Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 3. This follow-up promises grander and more enhanced experiences, with a primary emphasis on epic skirmishes. Regrettably, it’s still quite some time until we can expect to play this game.
