House of the Dragon’s Milly Alcock Was Told to Get Acting Coach While Filming

Millie Alcock gained popularity by portraying the young version of Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen in HBO’s series House of the Dragon. Alcock’s acting earned praise from critics, even landing a Critics’ Choice Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. However, some doubted Alcock’s talent, with one executive recommending additional acting training.

Why did Milly Alcock need to get an acting coach on House of the Dragon?

Recently, Alcock made an appearance on The Tonight Show to publicize her latest Netflix show, titled Sirens. During this visit, Alcock revealed an unexpected piece of advice she was given by an executive while working on House of the Dragon.

During my second day working on House of the Dragon, a person in a prominent position privately told me, ‘We’ll arrange for you to have an acting tutor,’ as shared by Alcock.

Jimmy Fallon, visibly surprised, inquired whether Alcock had panicked instead. However, rather than showing signs of anger or uncertainty, a hint of doubt seemed to cross her mind.

What he said only reinforced my suspicions, and that’s that I’m not particularly skilled at my work,” Alcock quipped playfully. “To put it simply, when I heard it, I thought, ‘I can’t do this. This is a disaster. I’ve made a blunder.’

Fallon expressed his admiration for the Australian actress, saying, “I’m truly sorry to have kept you waiting. Ever since the premixture, you’ve been the audience’s favorite. The other person is mistaken; you’re extraordinary.

The audience agreed, too, as they gave Alcock thunderous applause.

There’s no question about Alcock’s acting skills, as he stands out among the star-studded cast of Sirens – a Netflix black comedy also featuring Meghann Fahy, Kevin Bacon, Glenn Howerton, and Julianne Moore. The series premieres on May 22nd.

In the year to come, it’s been announced that Alcock will portray Kara Zor-El/Supergirl in the upcoming movie “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow,” which is the second instalment in James Gunn’s fresh DC Universe. This film is set to take flight in cinemas on June 26, 2026.
