Critics are mostly fond of Lilo & Stitch (2025) in reviews
The 2025 live-action remake of Lilo & Stitch has received mostly favorable reviews from critics.
As a dedicated fan, I’d say I gave Lilo & Stitch: Rise of the Rajini a 7/10. It’s a charming film that comes pretty close to the original, but just falls short in some areas. The performance of Maia Kealoha as Lilo was exceptional – she truly embodied the character. In my opinion, they couldn’t have found a more fitting actress for the role; she was spot-on in this movie.
Sim praised Sydney Elizabeth Agudong’s depiction of Nani and acknowledged the movie’s powerful emotional center, stating that it effectively captured “the essence and feelings of a fractured family on their journey towards healing and unity once more.
Allison Rose, reviewer at FlickDirect, awarded the film a flawless 5/5 rating, emphasizing that “The essence of Lilo & Stitch revolves around Ohana – a heartfelt message indicating that family isn’t strictly tied by blood.” Mat Brunet from AniMat’s Review bestowed an 8/10 score on the movie and commented on its authentic portrayal of family. Carson Timar, ButteredPopcorn reviewer, hailed it as a “masterpiece,” while Cory Woodroof from 615 Film described it as “overflowing with love, so meticulously crafted that it’s close to bursting at the seams.
While most reviews weren’t entirely glowing, some critics had strong criticisms. Jesse Hassenger from The Guardian labeled it as a “heavily computer-generated, almost live-action monster.” Aidan Kelley of Collider remarked that the excessive use of additional dialogue and editing in the background made the already suspect pace and edits even more noticeable.
