Cosmo Jarvis, the main character from the widely-watched Netflix series “Shogun”, has taken on a new role in a recently released biographical film, which enjoys the unique backing of a distinguished production company.
The Russian Underground And A Bank Heist
In the upcoming biographical movie titled “Young Stalin,” Cosmo Jarvis will portray the lead character. This film, directed by Géla Babluani, offers a unique perspective on the early life and rise to power of Joseph Stalin, rather than depicting him as a ruler. The narrative primarily revolves around the Russian underworld, with a significant emphasis on the country’s largest bank heist in history. This film benefits from an investor who has previously contributed to some of the most acclaimed films of recent times.
The company under discussion is Access Entertainment, a business controlled by oligarch Len Blavatnik. This company supported the Academy Award-winning Holocaust film The Zone of Interest, which provoked diverse opinions among viewers, and also last year’s popular movie Conclave, which even the cardinals found intriguing enough to watch in anticipation of the papal election.
A Movie About The Longest Of Shadows
Director Géla Babluani recently helmed the Hollywood adaptation titled “13“, a remake of his 2005 movie “13 Tzameti“. In fact, the rights for the remake were already secured by Brad Pitt before its theater release, which took place in 2010 featuring an A-list ensemble. Here’s what he shared about directing the Stalin film:
I’ve always been drawn to stories that live in the shadows, and there’s no shadow longer than Stalin’s. This isn’t a portrait of power — it’s a descent into the fire that forged it. With Cosmo, we have a lead actor who understands danger, charm and the fractures of identity.
The producing team is then completed by:
- Sam Taylor of F&ME (known for Before the Rain)
- Katcharava of 20 Steps (known for Girls of the Sun)
- Archil Gelovani of IFP (known for April)
- Alexander Kushaev (known for The Painted Bird)
- Rupert Lloyd (Fingersmith)
- Gunda Bergmane
- Esko Rips (known for Totally Boss)
Blavatnik and his Access Entertainment is executive, together with Danny Cohen and Vince Holden.
