As an avid fan of The First Descendant, I’m thrilled about the upcoming 1.2.18 update on May 22nd, which promises a plethora of fresh content. Previews have revealed a formidable new VIB boss, Icemaden, and a revamped Party Finder system to enhance matchmaking experiences. However, Nexon has recently unveiled an exciting new feature for The First Descendant update 1.2.18, which has sparked quite the debate among TFD community members like myself.
Nexon announces new feature for The First Descendant update 1.2.18
On the authorized The First Descendant X platform, game developer Nexon has unveiled a fresh addition for update 1.2.18 – the option to “glimpse at other players’ equipment setups”. This means you can now view another player’s chosen modules, as well as their dye and makeup, plus all other costume enhancements they have applied.
As a gamer, I’ve seen a split opinion within our gaming community about the recent announcement on X. Many are expressing concerns over the new peek feature, fearing it might undermine the variety of building styles we currently enjoy. Some players are especially protective of their unique builds and would prefer to keep them under wraps.
On Reddit, some fans express worry that other players might abandon matches because they’re not satisfied with another player’s character design or “build.” According to a comment on the TFD subreddit, these concerns are valid given the game is already populated with players who quit if they encounter a ‘lower-tier’ character description. Additionally, there are gamers who wish to protect their distinctive cosmetic and dye combinations from being replicated by others.
On the topic of incorporating player inspection, it’s worth noting that this functionality is already found in other games and was initially planned for inclusion at the time of TFD’s release.
For individuals opposing the concept of player inspections, many are advocating for an optional feature where players can choose to conceal their constructions. This setup would strike a balance, as it would uphold player inspection for those who prefer it, while granting freedom to those who don’t wish to engage in such activities.
Sadly, it’s uncertain whether the game will include a feature for player inspection at this point. Luckily, we won’t have to wait too long; we’ll find out on May 22nd.
