Automotive innovator Twisted has showcased their newest creation, dubbed the TBug – a daring reinterpretation of the iconic Baja Bug. Drawing inspiration from childhood memories of Beetle posters in founder Charles Fawcett’s sister’s room, the TBug captures the spirit of rebellion found in desert racing with a contemporary twist.

Instead of just a standard refurbishment, the TBug project begins with an ’60s to ’80s air-cooled Beetle and is taken back to its fundamental elements. The chassis gets sealed and reinforced, with long-travel suspension installed and large BFG tires mounted for off-road durability. Yet, even after increasing the power output by double, the TBug manages to stay below 80 hp to preserve a raw, engaging driving feel.

According to Rob, our main goal was to preserve the authentic, straightforward charm of the original Baja Bugs, while also infusing it with our unrelenting passion for exceptional engineering.

Unique in their design, no two TBugs are identical. From meticulously crafted interiors to advanced LED lighting and enhanced brakes, every aspect has a specific function.
