Mike Myers showed up in the finale of Saturday Night Live’s 50th season, joining a sketch that reminisced about a well-known TV moment from 2005 involving Kanye West. Interestingly, this marked Myers’s fourth guest spot on the show during this season. In one scene, he gets into an elevator and finds himself all by himself with a character meant to be Kanye West. However, it was Kenan Thompson who took on the role of Kanye in that episode.
Here’s a breakdown of Myers’ recent SNL skit featuring the “Carnival” artist.

Mike Myers and ‘Kanye West’ SNL sketch explained
On the final episode of Saturday Night Live’s 50th season, the actor known for playing Shrek and a former SNL cast member made a guest appearance. During the sketch, Mike Myers, who was riding an elevator that seemed to be at the 30 Rockefeller Plaza, unexpectedly crossed paths with Marcello Hernandez and Scarlett Johansson, who was playing a character named Janice in this episode.
Both seemed extremely happy upon seeing Myers and expressed their appreciation for him. Following Hernandez’s departure from the elevator, SNL regular Kenan Thompson emerged as Kanye West, causing Janice to also leave, despite Myers’ objections. The ensuing conversation was filled with humor and mirrored events from two decades past.
Check out Myers and Thompson’s sketch below:
In the year 2005, during a charity event for Hurricane Katrina hosted by NBC and hosted by Myers, Kanye West deviated from the planned script. He boldly asserted on live television that George W. Bush showed indifference towards Black people. (This information is sourced from The New York Post)
In the year 2025, following Janice’s exit, Thompson’s West (character) identified Myers and remembered the past events. He then commented, “You just had to stand there looking like an idiot.” When Mike Myers inquired about the other man’s current activities, the supposed rapper announced that he was involved with the Ku Klux Klan (KKK).
The conversation subsequently delved into discussing issues related to child safety in the entertainment world and the Sean “Diddy” Combs court case. Meanwhile, when Thompson enquired about Myers’ kids, he immediately assured that they were secure.
Once upon a time, an elevator halted, its door swung open. But those waiting outside thought it best to board the next one. In a hilarious SNL skit titled “Kanye West,” there was a moment where Kanye inquired about Mike Myers’ surname and if it had roots in Jewish history. Yet, the iconic Inglourious Basterds actor clarified that he was actually Protestant.
During a brief halt in the elevator caused by Myers’ actions, he became flustered. The actor then proposed to Kenan Thompson’s character that they might be able to restart the elevator by jumping up and down. However, Thompson declined, expressing his discomfort with such risky behavior. In the end, Myers advised “Kanye West” to stay safe before leaving the elevator.
