In the upcoming adventure of Mermicorno: Starfall season 2, Astra’s quest to discover the lost Mermicorno kingdom and Princess Hanna sets sail, yet the mystery of Kameko’s absent father lingers. As episodes 3 and 4 unfold, Kameko and Nautique uncover promising clues in their search for her father, while Astra, Gwen, and Squishella grapple with the need for a swifter mode of travel.
By the end of both episodes, valuable lessons are learned, forging even stronger friendship bonds.
Mermicorno: Starfall episode 3 recap: Special Delivery
In a more relaxed style: Kameko’s eagerness and restlessness to locate her father are causing quite a stir. She’s making mistakes as she tries to assist at the palace. Astra suggests they part ways, with Astra taking Gwen and Squishella along to find the Mermicorno kingdom and Princess Hanna. Meanwhile, Kameko and Nautique will focus on finding Kameko’s father.
however, Nautique advises that they should investigate something first before departing, which leaves Kameko feeling irritated since she’s eager to move on. Fortunately for them, the Trench Keeper and Craig show up at the palace in search of protection.
Since they found out Kameko’s father is a turtle, the Trench Keeper can find him in a lagoon now. However, for Kameko to move forward, she needs to transform into a turtle since all turtles have an inherent power that tells them where to go.
He advises that to make the most of her talent, she needs to quieten her thoughts by eliminating all interruptions. However, Kameko finds it challenging because of the incessant commotion at the palace.
In this spot, she discovers about an underwater channel connecting various ocean locales. Kameko thinks it might be a way to reach a lagoon, yet Nautique warns her off since these vents can be erratic and hazardous.
Or:
At this place, she comes across the knowledge of a network of underwater tunnels linking different ocean destinations. Kameko considers using it to get to a lagoon, however, Nautique cautions her due to the unpredictable and risky nature of these vents.
In a more conversational manner, the sentence could be rephrased as: He takes that moment to impart Kameko a life lesson based on a past event of his own. When he encountered Squishella, they found themselves without a place to stay, so they wound up crashing at a ramen shop owner’s place, helping him deliver noodles to customers instead.
Despite participating, Nautique often sensed a sense of deprivation. One fateful day, he discovers that his beloved writer and marine biologist, Mae Jellyfish, is holding a unique, one-night-only book signing at the Clamshell Amphitheater.
He yearns to see her (hopefully I’ll get that kind of admiration someday), but a book signing was about to commence in an hour, and they still had one final delivery to make. Eagerly, Kameko slipped into the air vents, with Nautique hot on her heels, assuming she already understood the lesson. (This version maintains the original’s flow while simplifying some of the language for easier comprehension.)
Once Nautique clears a pile of debris from their path, they both understand that the current has ceased, trapping them. Nautique soothes Kameko’s agitation and proposes they make their way to the nearest exit, providing Kameko some extra time to complete the tale.
In a discussion about the quickest method for food delivery, Nautique proposes using boats (or swimming), while Squishella suggests taking the bus. They decide to swim through what they thought was an alleyway shortcut, but when they emerge on the other side, they find themselves in an unfamiliar part of the city.
In a humorous turn of events, the pawn shop and Squishella make an appearance, with Squishella attempting to sell Princess Hanna’s diary, all while Nautique is searching for a notable location. Assuming the noise they hear is due to May Jellyfish’s arrival, they are mistaken. Instead, it turns out that the ruckus was caused by enthusiastic bubbleball fans generating a wave of excitement.
As I’m going through the ordeal, I unfortunately discover that my Nautique’s food bag has sprung a leak, which I didn’t notice at first. With mere minutes ticking away, we stumble upon a scooter, but our excitement gets the better of us as we lose control, potentially causing distress to those nearby.
1) As they dodge the disheartened crowd, the duo discovers the address only after noticing their ramen had spilled from the bag. Coincidentally, the bus that Squishella advised them to take earlier pulls up at that exact moment.
Ultimately, Nautique found herself needing to provide the ramen once more, causing her to forgo the book signing. Kameko values patience and is working on accessing her inner turtle strength.
Initially, things appear to function smoothly, but later, they encounter a choice between two pathways. Kameko makes another attempt, only to falter, ultimately leading them astray.
In due time, Kameko managed to activate her turtle powers, which allowed her to locate Nautique and save him from a treacherous whirlpool. The vents brought them back to the palace, but despite being at square one, Kameko had discovered her innate ability and now knew the way to find her father.
Mermicorno: Starfall episode 4 recap: Singer Wrong Writer
In the quirky Wild West-style settlement known as Gulfreef Gulch, trio – Astra, Gwen, and Squishella – sit down to enjoy a bowl of ramen. However, their disappointment grows as they realize they are quite distant from where they thought the Mermicorno kingdom lay.
They might opt for the new train, Sea Sprinter, however, it’s fully booked for numerous years ahead. They learn from a sea creature called Shantell, a hammerhead shark, about a songwriting competition where competitors are required to compose and perform their original songs.
The victor will receive passes for the Sea Sprinter. Squishella is eager to emerge triumphant, yet finds it challenging to pen her own melody as Nautique contacts her via the seashell phone.
When I garner a multitude of admirers after they’ve heard me perform, Squishella insists on taking all the praise. Her deceit only serves to inflate her ego, much like how a seaworm expands with each falsehood it spins.
Amidst their current situation, Astra and Gwen are consistently at odds about selecting a suitable backdrop. Meanwhile, when Nautique phones once more, he implores Squishella to come clean with the truth.
Or simply:
In the middle of things, Astra and Gwen can’t seem to agree on a backdrop design. When Nautique calls again, he asks Squishella to be honest about something.
In awe, I watched as she triumphed in the contest, yet my joy was swiftly overshadowed when a colossal sea-worm, once harmless, started wreaking havoc on our town. It wasn’t until Squishella confessed the truth that the sea-worm shrank back to its original size.
Instead, the award is given to Shantell, as she graciously provides Squishella and her companions with Sea Sprinter train passes. Shantell chooses to collaborate with the seaworm for the purpose of composing additional melodies together.
The episode concludes with a somber tone after news spreads about the destruction at the seahorse realm.
Ika Inkblot admires Dark Pearl’s abilities, yet she chooses not to follow his orders. To begin with, he sets out to annihilate any semblance of creativity within the ocean, commencing with Mount Sora and its melodies.
Instead of teaching Dark Pearl to become a henchfish, Ika finds himself trying to guide her, but every attempt at a lesson ends in failure. What becomes increasingly clear is just how fiercely loyal Sawtooth is.
However, it’s no wonder that he continues to be overlooked. In a desperate attempt, Ika decides to carry Dark Pearl in a device known as an “oyster hoister” and makes her way up Mount Sora. (The idea of an oyster hoister had me chuckling!)
In a turn of events, the resolute seahorse named Bubbles stands firm, only to face the consequence of being transformed into a Squidian. With no other option, the seahorces are forced to yield to Ika.
Mermicorno: Starfall season 2 episodes 3 and 4 review
You know, the old saying ‘the shortcut is often the long route’ is definitely a valuable lesson in life. It seems fitting that Kameko, eager to discover more about her father, would be the one to learn this truth.
At times, maintaining focus and patience can prove challenging, particularly when working towards a goal. This sentiment resonates with both children and adults alike.
Just like with Squishella’s lesson, I’m equally pleased that it was part of this season. It’s crucial to remember that using creativity wisely, rather than complicating things for the viewers, is key.
In my perspective, instilling good values in children by encouraging them not to resort to dishonest acts like cheating on tests, copying homework, or stealing ideas for group projects, is truly beneficial. Instead, I believe in fostering teamwork, acknowledging others’ contributions, and taking the long but honorable path to achieve success. Earning your rewards through hard work and fair play is not only rewarding but also instills a sense of pride and self-respect.
Among the many aspects I’ve found delightful this season so far is the revisitation of characters, incidents, and even locations from the first season. Last week, we discussed Baby Bones, and now we have the Trench Keeper, Craig, and regrettably, Bubbles the Squidian.
I’m excited for additional appearances by familiar characters, references to past events, and valuable teachings that will further develop our mermaid-unicorn hybrid (mermicornos) characters as well as enrich the viewing experience of the audience.
