Yamadonga 4K re-release: Audiences walk out midway through Jr NTR and SS Rajamouli’s film; WATCH

Yamadonga, a Telugu fantasy action drama initially launched in cinemas back in 2007, is being re-released in 4K format this year, marking its 18th anniversary. However, contrary to the anticipation of a grand return to the big screen on May 18, audiences responded unexpectedly. In fact, numerous viewers chose to depart from the cinemas before the film’s conclusion.

In a widely-shared clip, multiple spectators were caught on camera departing from the cinema midway through the movie Yamadonga featuring Jr NTR. It seemed that some elements of the film left them displeased, leading them to leave prematurely.

Yamadonga is a movie helmed by director SS Rajamouli and jointly penned by his father, Vijayendra Prasad. This production, under Visvamitra Creations, is the work of Cherry and Gangaraju Gunnam. The leading cast includes Jr NTR, Priyamani, and Mohan Babu. Yamadonga’s plot seems to be influenced by the 1977 movie Yamagola, skillfully merging mythology with contemporary storytelling.

The story revolves around Raja, a street-smart thief from Hyderabad who met an untimely end at the hands of hired goons from a wealthy family. But instead of resting peacefully, Raja’s spirit finds itself transported to Yamaloka. In an audacious twist, he manages to snatch the mighty Yamapasam, giving him the power to overturn his fate and question Yama’s rule in the underworld.

The movie was filmed in Hyderabad and at Ramoji Film City. When it premiered on August 15, 2007, Yamadonga turned out to be a massive success and among the top-earning Telugu movies of that year.

In terms of professional endeavors, Jr NTR is getting ready for the premiere of his movie “War 2” in Bollywood, where he’ll star alongside Hrithik Roshan. Additionally, he’s busy preparing for a future collaboration with Prashanth Neel, currently known as “NTRNeel.

Currently, filmmaker SS Rajamouli is engaged with the production of SSMB29, which features Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra, and Prithviraj Sukumaran in leading roles.
