In the shocking finale twist of Power Book 3: Raising Kanan Season 4, fans speculated whether Patina Miller’s character, Raq, might depart from the series. Raq, who made her debut in Season 1 and is Kanan’s mother, is a formidable figure who brooks no disrespect and swiftly responds to those who underestimate her. However, when her son suspected that she was responsible for the murders of his loved ones, she met a tragic end. Thus, it remains unclear whether Miller will exit the show or if the producers have devised a clever way to reintroduce her character. Here’s what we know so far.
Is Patina Miller’s Raq leaving Power Book 3: Raising Kanan after Season 4?
The final episode of Power Book 3: Raising Kanan hinted at Miller’s departure. It was suggested that Kanan may have killed his mother, but it’s uncertain if she is truly deceased. There’s a chance she could reappear through flashbacks or brief appearances in future episodes, though this hasn’t been definitively confirmed yet.
The fourth season ended dramatically, as Raq’s future remained uncertain. Towards the end, Kanan confronted Raq at her house, brandishing a gun aimed at her. He struggles to trust his mother, believing she was involved in the deaths of those dear to him. However, Raq tries to clear up any potential misconceptions. She admits to past wrongdoings but denies any involvement in his recent accusations.
Unpersuaded, Kanan suspects that his mother is trying to exert control over him again. Without hesitation, he draws a weapon and fires. The scene abruptly ends in darkness, leaving Raq’s survival hanging in the balance. It seems as though she may have perished.
It appears that the likelihood of Miller’s Raq’s continuation may be low given Sascha Penn’s recent remarks to Deadline. Penn hinted that “Everyone is at risk, Rosy. Absolutely everyone is at risk.
Furthermore, she explained that Miller’s character would significantly influence other characters’ storylines, even when she is not present on screen. She explained, “We frequently discuss this in both Raising Kanan and Power as a whole: the concept of characters by proxy. This means their impact continues even if they aren’t physically there. Raq has made an indelible impression on her family, so if she isn’t seen, we’ll still sense her presence. That’s how we handle it.” However, only the upcoming season will reveal the actual outcome of Raq’s story.
Power Book III: Raising Kanan Season 4 is available to watch on Starz.
