Asif Ali opens up about being bedridden and wheelchair-bound during Tikitaka shoot: ‘Cried like a child…’

Actor Asif Ali is gearing up to captivate audiences once more with his upcoming movie titled Tikitaka. This action-filled production started filming in 2023, but it was unfortunately interrupted during production. More recently, the actor revealed some harrowing experiences he faced while working on this project via his social media platforms.

In a heartfelt missive, I found myself gushing about slipping into the boots of none other than John Denver in Tikitaka. This iconic figure was more than just a character to me – he was a warrior, unyielding, tenacious, and forever refusing to back down. Fascinatingly, as I embarked on my own cinematic voyage with this role, I couldn’t help but see parallels between our stories, as the trials faced by my character mirrored my very own journey.

In simpler terms, the actor from Rekhachithram disclosed that playing Tikitaka required a lot of physical exertion. To prepare for the part, he spent numerous months training and transforming his physique.

In 2023, as we embarked on our journey, an unforeseen accident occurred during my combat training, leaving me in the hospital for days and weeks confined to a wheelchair. The most devastating aspect was that I lost all the progress I had made over a year, meticulously preparing for my character. Unlike John Denver, I shed tears like a child on the hospital bed, as shared by Asif Ali.

18 months after the pause, filming is back on track. Asif Ali is throwing himself into his role once more, despite dealing with meniscus and ligament injuries. He mentioned that the movie “Tikitaka” will be released by year’s end, characterizing it as a lively production filled with genuine dedication.

In his statement, he mentioned that even though Malayalam cinema is experiencing great success now, this movie intends to offer something fresh as a mass entertainer. Asif Ali ended his message by expressing gratitude for the fans’ support and looking forward to more enthusiasm from film enthusiasts.
