Instead of Gourav Gupta’s design, Halle Berry opted for a black-and-white striped Jacquemus gown during the opening ceremony. Yet, her Celia Kritharioti outfit at the Mission Impossible film premiere sparked discussions about whether it adhered to the festival’s revised dress code guidelines.

Together with Berry, online spectators spotted several other famous personalities donning extravagant gowns during their Cannes red carpet events. For instance, Heidi Klum graced one of the red carpets in a large pink Elie Saab Haute Couture gown, complete with a substantial train.

According to the official guidelines set by the Cannes Film Festival, attendees are now required to follow the dress code on the red carpet and other designated areas.
