‘I’m not going to increase my salary’: Sasikumar on Tourist Family surpassing Kutti Puli and Sundarapandian’s box office

The Tamil family drama “Tourist Family” made its debut on the big screen on May 1st, even competing with films like Nani’s HIT 3 and Suriya’s Retro. Yet, against all odds, it became an unprecedented hit. Contrary to what one might expect, the cast members aren’t basking in success and pushing for higher fees, as a response from director Sasikumar on this matter may leave you surprised.

At a recent press conference, the actor shared that Tourist Family is currently his most profitable movie to date. It’s earnings have surpassed the combined box office collections of Sundarapandian and Kutti Puli. Sasikumar disclosed that the film earned approximately Rs 2.5 crore on its opening day, an amount which some of his earlier films made throughout their entire theater run. However, despite this success, he expressed no desire to raise his fee.

According to him, “Tourist Family has earned more at the box office than any other film in my career, beating out Kutti Puli and Sundarapandian. On its opening day, it brought in approximately 25 million rupees, which is equivalent to the total lifetime earnings of several movies I made earlier. Despite this success, I won’t be raising my salary.

The movie titled Tourist Family, from Million Dollar Studios and MRP Entertainment, has been consistently drawing large crowds at the box office. On its first day, it earned an impressive Rs 2 crore, and after a successful 10-day run, it amassed a substantial total of Rs 20 crore in Tamil Nadu alone.

Based on calculations, the movie earned approximately 25 million rupees on its 13th day, which took its total domestic earnings in the state to 420 million rupees. The film is expected to exceed 500 million rupees in the entire local market during its entire run. At present, Tourist Family has already surpassed that mark globally. As it continues to gain momentum, everyone is eagerly waiting to see how the movie performs in the forthcoming weeks.
