For a week now, Palworld’s gliding on Pals functionality has been absent, following Nintendo’s legal dispute with the game resembling Pokemon. However, creative minds among the modding community have successfully resurrected this feature.

The Glider Restoration mod for the PC version of the game, created by Primarinabee, revives the lost feature of multiplayer gliding fun. You can find this convenient and hassle-free modification on Nexus Mods. It’s so smooth that it almost overshadows the ongoing legal dispute Nintendo is facing.

After the heartbreaking removal of the gliding feature from the game, I’m incredibly grateful to Eurogamer for creating a mod that brings back this beloved aspect, even if it’s not an exact replica. With the lawsuit having taken away the original feature, this is about as close as we can get now to experiencing the thrilling gameplay once again.

The creator of this mod explained on Nexus that the mod employs a clever trick to undo the trick used in the previous version to remove gliding companions. However, you will still need a glider in your inventory for it to work. It’s not completely flawless, but it essentially reinstates the functionality from Patch 0.5.5 without forcing you to miss out on future game updates.

To install the mod, players simply have to follow these very simple steps:

  • Drop the Pak file in Palworld/Pal/Content/Paks
  • Do not remove the _P in the filename
  • For gamepass users, use the same process with the 3 files (Utoc, Ucas, Pak)

It appears that Gliding on Pals won’t be accessible for console gamers using Xbox and PlayStation due to Nintendo taking issue with gameplay elements they consider too similar to Pokemon, or utilizing mechanics protected by patents, like throwing Pal Spheres to capture Pals. However, it’s worth noting that games similar to Pokemon have been around for quite some time, and Palworld isn’t the first instance.

As a dedicated gamer, I’m thrilled to see that despite the chatter from some quarters, Palworld’s developer PocketPair presses on, tirelessly creating fresh updates and exciting collaborations like the upcoming Terraria partnership.
