In the dominating meta of submachine guns within gaming landscapes, it’s challenging for other weapons to shine. Yet, fortunately, a select few manage to bust through this SMG-frenzy, and nowhere is that more evident than in the shotgun class of Call of Duty: Mobile. I find myself excelling with these powerhouses!
Despite appearing quite distinct at first glance, shotguns and submachine guns (SMGs) have several similar characteristics.
They’re both highly effective at causing significant harm in close quarters and possess the agility to move appropriately, enabling their users to dart between cover and strategically outmaneuver enemies.
Indeed, even though the final outcomes might seem similar, the methods used to produce these results can vary greatly.
While SMGs typically fire low-power bullets rapidly, shotguns pack a punch by scattering powerful pellets towards enemies, effectively halting them.
Over the past few gaming seasons, certain shotguns in Call of Duty: Mobile have significantly improved, demonstrating impressive power that can take down opponents with a single hit, even from moderate distances.
Which among these potent categories of firearms stands out as superior? To aid in your decision-making process, we’ve created a tier list that evaluates each shotgun, arranging them from top to bottom performance-wise, considering the adjustments made to the weapon balance in Season 4 (2025).
COD: Mobile Shotgun Tier List
In Call of Duty: Mobile, you’ll find a total of 10 diverse shotguns, ranging from pump-action to self-loading fully-automatic ones. Each season often brings adjustments to one or more of these eight weapons, making it challenging to stay updated on the weapon that’s currently most effective in gameplay, as it changes with the meta.
Gladly, we’re here to help sort out the confusion, categorizing each shotgun individually and organizing them into a ranking system. The top rank, S-tier, refers to the best shotguns, while D-tier signifies those that perform poorly in Call of Duty: Mobile.
S-Tier
- R9-0
- VLK Rogue
The newly introduced VLK Rogue is an extremely agile shotgun boasting a large magazine capacity, impressive damage output, and even better performance thanks to skillfully chosen accessories.
Due to its exceptional multiplayer gameplay, it has earned a spot in the top S tier.
Moving to the next one, a favorite of pro players and also a very easy shotgun to use.
The R9-0 delivers swift, dual-barreled shots that efficiently take down opponents in no time, causing minimal disturbance.
This weapon is highly portable, and if you’ve encountered it recently, chances are it was used by its wielder – quite possibly in a situation where it was fired from a shotgun.
Additionally, it’s the unique shotgun to feature the smoothbore attachment system, a design that may minimize aim down sights (ADS) dispersion, bullet scatter, and horizontal recoil, based on the specific smoothbore option you select.
A-Tier
- KRM-262
- JAK-12 [With Signature Attachment]
Among all contenders, the standout competitor for the R9-0 is the KRM-262. At close quarters, it delivers a lethal single shot effect.
This shotgun performs exceptionally well at mid-to-far distances, offering you a bit of flexibility if you haven’t quite managed to get close enough, thanks to its compact pattern of pellets.
B-Tier
- BY15
Distinguishing itself among other pump-action shotguns is the BY15, known for its exceptional long shooting distance, unmatched in the category of shotgun weapons.
This weapon boasts a quicker firing speed compared to the KRM 262, but it may not measure up in terms of movement agility, precision, and maneuverability. If you’re a shotgun enthusiast and prefer using one in battle royale game modes, this could very well be your ideal choice.
C-Tier
- HS0405
- Echo
- JAK-12 [With the new JAK-12 Dragon’s Breath signature attachment and past changes, the JAK-12 now an A-tier Shotgun]
The HS0405 model falls into the C tier as it offers a somewhat less effective performance compared to the BY15, particularly in terms of fire rate, accuracy, and range. However, it excels in mobility compared to the BY15.
The Echo and JAK-12 share similarities as they are both types of shotguns; however, the Echo functions as a semi-automatic weapon, whereas the JAK-12 operates in fully automatic mode.
These shotguns are ideal for individuals who may not be proficient in targeting, given their exceptionally high rate of fire, faster than most other shotguns available.
On the other hand, one disadvantage is that they don’t deliver the same high damage levels as other weapons within this category, making them less effective and generally not a good choice compared to picking up an SMG, unless you can consistently land your initial shot.
D-Tier
- HS2126
- Striker
In simpler terms, the lower-end category, often referred to as D-tier, could also be called the “discard” or “low-quality” tier. When discussing shotguns, the HS2126 and Striker models are typically found in this category.
Among automatic shotguns, the Striker is generally considered superior, boasting superior statistics all-around. However, neither gun delivers enough damage to make them effective choices in the Season 8 (2024) game meta. Instead, it’s advisable to opt for any other shotgun featured on this list.
