How did Ellie know what Joel did to save her in The Last of Us?
In the fifth episode of Season 2 of The Last of Us, Ellie breaks away from her group and makes her way back to Lakehill. At Lakehill, she encounters Nora. Initially, Nora eludes Ellie but eventually gets cornered as a medical facility they were in is invaded by spores. As Ellie has already been shown to be immune to the fungi earlier in the series, she starts questioning Nora. Trying to communicate with Ellie, Nora attempts to explain about Joel’s actions towards Abby’s father. Ellie first shows indifference but later reveals that she is already aware of the situation.
One possibility is that Ellie may be fully aware of Joel’s actions from the Season 1 finale, as revealed by their tense relationship at the beginning of Season 2. The five-year time gap between seasons could account for a conversation where Joel confided in Ellie about what transpired in Salt Lake City during those years.
Ellie might have discovered the truth on her own or learned it from another person.
