Mikey Madison landed her debut leading film part after winning the Best Actress Oscar for her role as Anora.
More recently, Madison bagged an Oscar for her outstanding role in Sean Baker’s film “Anora”. Before this, she had already appeared in films like “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” (released in 2019) and “Scream” (2022), along with several other notable projects.
Now, Madison will star in a new movie directed by Alejandro Landes Echavarría titled Reptilia.
What do we know about Mikey Madison’s new movie?
Reptilia tells the story of a dental hygienist who gets captivated by an enigmatic mermaid, leading her into the secretive and watery world of Florida’s unusual pet trade.
In addition to the cast list, you’ll find Kirsten Dunst, who is recognized for portraying Mary Jane Watson in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy. Recently, she earned an Academy Award nomination for her role as Rose Gordon in Jane Campion’s The Power of the Dog (2021) as well.
The film Reptilia originates from a screenplay written by Landes Echavarría and Duke Merriman. Additionally, Landes Echavarría acts as a producer under his own production company A Stela Cine, joined by other esteemed partners such as PASTEL (Moonlight, Aftersun), Imperative Entertainment (Killers of the Flower Moon, Triangle of Sadness), and AF Films. The financing for this project is being provided by Black Bear.

This movie will be unveiled to international distributors at Cannes Market by Charades, while both UTA Independent Film Group and 30WEST are jointly managing the distribution rights here in the United States. In 2007, Landes Echavarría began his directorial journey with a documentary named “Cocalero,” which first appeared at the Sundance Film Festival. Subsequently, he released “Porfirio” in 2011. His latest work, “Monos,” premiered at Sundance as well and represented Colombia in the Best International Feature Film category at the 92nd Academy Awards. This film features Julianne Nicholson and Moisés Arias among its stars.
