Starfield isn’t a poor quality game; on the contrary, it can be quite enjoyable at times, with some exceptional quests tucked away within its expansive universe. Despite the release of the highly acclaimed Oblivion Remastered, there are still a few individuals who continue to play Bethesda’s space-themed game, but even its most dedicated modifiers are calling it quits.
In a recent communication to fans, Pickysaurus, the head of the Starfield Community Patch team, announced that the group responsible for developing the game’s key and largest modification will no longer be involved in the project. This information was confirmed on the Starfield Modding Discord server, where the project lead disclosed that the modders working on this particular mod lack both the “available time and inspiration to maintain the patch”.
Starfield Community Patch ends development
The Starfield Community Patch, last modified on September 30, 2024, rectifies issues such as mispositioned objects, script glitches, and flawed missions/quests, among other things. Earlier, updates were rolled out quite frequently; however, the team has been without an update for over six months now.
In a recent update to fans, Pickysaurus disclosed that he’s been occupied with private concerns, and unfortunately, other creators no longer seem keen on continuing development of the game.
The project leader informed fans that other team members have lost interest in the game due to several factors such as limited replay value, issues with paid modding, and shifting towards newer titles.
Although the present team is no longer developing the Starfield Community Patch, Pickysaurus clarified that the website remains active, hoping someone will take up the task. If no one steps forward, the team might have to discontinue the project and guide fans towards the debated Unofficial Starfield Patch by Arthmoor instead.
Although the main and crucial mod for the game might no longer be under development, there’s still an active community of Starfield modders at present. In just a week, numerous mods have been published, which include weapons, planets, locations, and other additions. However, it seems that Starfield hasn’t yet generated the same vibrant, decades-long modding community as Bethesda’s previous titles.
