Katie Thurston gives breast cancer update
Hey there! So, last Tuesday on May 6th, I hopped onto my Instagram Stories to talk about a tough topic – the side effects of my treatment. You see, every month, I’ve got these hormone-blocking injections that basically shut down estrogen and progesterone production. It’s like hitting the pause button on my female hormones, which unfortunately triggers menopause symptoms. That means I’m dealing with things like intense hot flashes and exhaustion that just drains me to the bone.
She disclosed that she wasn’t able to sleep well because she’s currently experiencing medically induced menopause, causing her hot flashes,” Thurston explained. Additionally, she confessed she was battling severe dehydration, stating, “My lips have been dry and chapped for what feels like two weeks.” She highlighted the difficulty in staying hydrated, humorously adding, “Exhausted from menopause and dehydrated from medication.
After discussing menopause symptoms, Katie Thurston shared some concerning news about her breast cancer following a recent medical check-up. Via her Boobie Broadcast platform, she disclosed that over 10 of her lymph nodes have been impacted, suggesting the cancer has progressed to a more advanced stage.
She clarified that it’s quite a substantial amount, which could potentially lead to a condition called lymphedema. This is a persistent and typically incurable issue that can result in excessive swelling, often linked to cancer therapies involving the extraction of lymph nodes.
As a concerned admirer, I’m left pondering the potential number of lymph nodes that might require removal. To make an informed choice, I’m compiling a comprehensive list of questions to guide me through this process.
Currently, Katie Thurston is devoting her time to learning more and increasing public understanding about the topic. By openly discussing medically induced menopause and associated difficulties, she’s highlighting frequently overlooked issues in cancer treatment, particularly as they affect younger women.
