In Vadakkan, the narrative revolves around Ram, a ghost hunter who resides outside of Kerala. He receives a distressing call from his former lover, Megha, whose husband and reality show team perish mysteriously in a forest while filming. This tragic event sets off an investigation for Ram, which quickly delves into far more complex and ominous circumstances.

He discovers hidden powers, age-old mysteries, and pieces of his own incomplete past. The woods are rich with folklore and spiritual practices, notably Theyyam customs, and the boundary between the physical world and the mystical plane becomes less clear. A band of youths ventures into the forest, yet they become ensnared as strange occurrences transpire, and individuals from their group gradually disappear mysteriously.
