Actresses Aubrey Plaza, a nominee for the Golden Globe Award, and Susan Sarandon, an Academy Award winner, have confirmed their participation in the upcoming movie titled “The Accompanist“. Alongside them, Everly Carganilla, known for her role in “Spy Kids: Armageddon”, has been cast as one of the main characters.
The project is the first feature-length directorial venture of Zach Woods, known for his work on The Office and Silicon Valley. He co-wrote the screenplay with Brandon Gardner, a long-time collaborator. This film marks a significant step in Woods’ career, having previously directed short films like David (2020) and Bud (2021). Notably, David was nominated for the Short Film Palme d’Or at the 2020 Cannes Film Festival.
In the vast digital realm of gaming, there are moments that can seem isolating. Yet, I firmly believe in sharing tales of terror, humor, and grandeur – those moments when courage leads us towards each other even in the pitch-black obscurity. This is what I’ve come to express in my statement.
What is The Accompanist starring Aubrey Plaza about?
This upcoming film, titled “The Accompanist,” is being crafted by Woods, Plaza, Michael Sagol, Allison Hironaka, Carlos Zozaya, and Lauren Bratman. Bert Hamelinck, Hannah Reyer, Vincent Newman, Vance Howard, Brandon Gardner, Avtar Khalsa, Corentin De Saedeleer, Dan Sbrega, Daniel “Dickey” Abedon, and Philipp Engelhorn are the executive producers for this project. The production company behind it is Caviar, while Mister Smith Entertainment manages its international distribution. At present, the movie is undergoing post-production.
In the story, when 9-year-old Emily (Carganilla) inadvertently reveals to her school nurse that her grandpa with dementia nearly endangered them, a novice social worker named Sarah (Plaza) is dispatched to their home for an investigation. The extraction doesn’t go as planned and Emily ends up being taken away and placed with Sylvia, a fresh foster parent.
Sylvia (Sarandon) is enigmatic, quirky, humorous, and unpredictable. Her genuine kindness and playfulness are overshadowed by her haunting encounters with her past. As Emily and Sylvia develop a bond, their realities, dreams, and visions start merging. As their relationship deepens, they must determine how much they are prepared to risk – whether the growing affection between them is worth the ghosts it appears to summon.
