Rob Liefeld, who jointly conceived Deadpool along with Fabian Nicieza and is recognized for his writing and artwork, has expressed his thoughts on the latest news regarding Ryan Reynold’s upcoming X-Men film venture.
Last week, it was disclosed by The Hollywood Reporter that Reynolds is considering a Deadpool and X-Men movie within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. As per the report, Deadpool is expected to take on a “secondary role” in this film, which may include around “three to four” other X-Men characters.
The film currently undergoing initial production phases is reportedly distinct from the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s X-Men movie penned by Michael Lesslie.
At present, there’s no information about any other actors that might appear in Reynolds’ movie, given that it’s just beginning stages and quite a distance away from being actualized.
What did Deadpool’s Rob Liefeld say about Ryan Reynolds’ X-Men movie?
On platform X, Liefeld posted The Hollywood Reporter’s article and expressed, “Simply title it X-Force, let’s bring it to life as it was with Drew Goddard. Ensure Josh Brolin and Zazie are included. Fans are eager for the return of CABLE and DOMINO!
How about this instead: Let’s officially name the team X-Force and get things rolling as we did with Drew Goddard. Make sure to include Josh Brolin and Zazie in it. Fans are eager to see Cable and Domino again!

In 2017, Goddard was first chosen for both writing and directing a movie about X-Force, primarily featuring Deadpool, Cable, and Domino. However, this project was put on hold after the Disney-Fox union, as Marvel decided to produce “Deadpool & Wolverine” in 2024 instead.
In the movie Deadpool 2, which was released in 2018, Ryan Reynolds (as Deadpool) and Zazie Beetz (as Domino) appeared alongside Josh Brolin as Cable. Interestingly, neither Cable nor Domino made a comeback for the film Deadpool & Wolverine.
At the moment, a launch date for Ryan Reynold’s X-Men film hasn’t been decided yet. Similarly, no release date has been given for the X-Men movie penned by Lesslie from Marvel Studios. However, we can anticipate further updates on this project after the 2026 and 2027 Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, respectively, both of which are under the direction of the Russo Brothers.
